EICMA 2022: Honda XL750 Transalp Revealed - A Legend Returns
Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Honda has revealed the all-new XL750 Transalp adventure tourer at EICMA 2022 motorcycle show in Milan, Italy.
Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Honda has revealed the all-new XL750 Transalp adventure tourer at EICMA 2022 motorcycle show in Milan, Italy. The Honda XL750 Transalp will compete with the likes of the BMW F850GS when it arrives in 2023.
The Honda XL750 Transalp is powered by the same liquid-cooled, parallel twin, 755cc engine that powers the CB750 Hornet. The new Transalp's engine produces 90.5bhp at 9,500rpm and 75Nm of peak torque at 7,250rpm.
The engine is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The Honda Transalp gets an assist and slipper clutch as standard and owners can add a quickshifter.
Thanks to a throttle-by-wire setup there are five riding modes on offer - Sport, Standard, Rain, and Gravel along with a fully-customizable 'User' mode.
These riding modes control four levels of engine power delivery, 3 levels of engine braking, two ABS modes and 5 traction control levels. Riders can also deactivate the traction control and the rear ABS through the 5-inch touchscreen display.
The Honda Transalp is 2,325mm long, 838mm wide and 1,450mm tall. The XL750 Transalp's wheelbase is 1,560mm long and the bike weighs 208kg. The Honda XL750 Transalp offers 210mm of ground clearance.
The Honda Transalp features a steel frame with a diamond structure. The frame features an integrated subframe and weighs just 18.3 kilogrammes. The XL750 Transalp from Honda sports Showa's 43mm upside-down cartridge forks which offer 200mm of travel and preload adjustment. The rear features a Showa mono-shock with preload adjustment and pro-link linkage and an aluminium swingarm that offer 190mm of travel.
Braking duties on the new Honda Transalp are taken care of by twin 310mm discs at the front with 2-piston axial callipers and a single 256mm disc at the rear with a single-piston calliper. The brakes are aided by dual-channel ABS.
The all-new Honda XL750 Transalp rides on a staggered spoked wheel setup with a 21-inch wheel at the front and an 18 incher at the rear that are shod with either Metzeler Karoo Street or Dunlop Mixtour tyres depending on the usage case.
The all-new Honda XL750 Transalp looks like a smaller version of Honda's Africa twin adventure tourer motorcycle. The new Transalp is offered in three different colourways including a tricolour livery that pays tribute to the original XL600V Transalp model from 1986.
The Honda XL750 Transalp offers a relaxed riding position which allows you to ride it for long distances with ease. The fairing and the windscreen are sculpted to increase stability and reduce wind noise and buffeting at speed.
The Honda XL750 Transalp also features a full LED lighting setup along with a 5-inch TFT screen with Honda Smartphone Voice Control system that keeps you connected while you ride thanks to Bluetooth connectivity. Owners can also use the setup for navigation, calls, messages and music.
Thoughts About The Honda XL750 Transalp
The Honda XL750 TransAlp not only revives a legendary nameplate but also looks to have all the mechanical bits to make it the perfect middleweight adventure tourer.
