Honda Recalls Flagship Motorcycles To Fix FI Issues: Gold Wing, Africa Twin & Fireblade Motorcycles Affected
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has recalled some of its most coveted and most expensive motorcycles in the Indian market. The Honda Fireblade, Africa Twin, and even the Honda Gold Wing have been recalled for an issue with the fuel-injection system. A total of 84 motorcycles are affected by this recall.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) is one of the top motorcycle and scooter manufacturers in the country. It is one of the few brands in the country to have an extensive lineup of motorcycles and scooters. The brand has a strong presence across the entire two-wheeler market, starting from the 110cc scooter segment and going all the way up to the power cruiser/tourer segment and everything in between.
Honda also has a track record of making some of the most reliable motorcycles and scooters. This time though, Honda has detected an issue in the fuel injection system with some of its motorcycles. These motorcycles also happen to be the most expensive and exquisite machines manufactured by the Japanese brand.
First up is the flagship Adventure motorcycle - the Africa Twin. It is one of the most revered off-road motorcycles in the world and has proven its capabilities both on and off the paved path. It is powered by a 1,082cc, parallel-twin engine that puts out 97.89bhp and 103Nm.
Then comes the Honda Fireblade which is the flagship supersport model from Honda. It is undoubtedly one of the fastest motorcycles in the world. The Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade is powered by a 999cc, inline-four-cylinder engine that puts out 214bhp and 113Nm.
The third motorcycle that is part of this recall is the massive Honda Gold Wing. It certainly is the gold standard when it comes to luxurious motorcycles and is one of the largest motorcycles in the world. It is powered by a unique 1,833cc flat-six-cylinder engine that puts out 124.6bhp and 170Nm.
Honda has recalled these motorcycles to fix an improper setting in the PGM-Fi system. This improper setting of the program could cause the engine to stall while the motorcycle is in motion. If not handled properly, this could spell disaster at speed. However, Honda has mentioned that no cases of failure have been reported in India so far.
This is therefore a precautionary measure and will ensure that the flaw does not rear its head in India. Honda's BigWing dealerships will get in touch with the owners of the motorcycles and the software will be updated free of charge.
Thoughts On Honda Gold Wing, Africa Twin & Fireblade Being Recalled
The motorcycles affected by this recall are those motorcycles that many aspire to own one day. They are the stuff of dreams for many and these motorcycles have had a brilliant track record of being the best in terms of performance while also being very reliable. Now, with Honda recalling them despite the fact that no cases of failure have been reported in India, the brand has just proved why these motorcycles are the best in their respective segments.
