Honda CRF190L Patented: To Rival Hero Xpulse 200 When Launched
Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India (HMSI) has patented the design of the Honda CRF190L motorcycle. This latest design patent hints at Honda's interest to launch the CRF190L motorcycle in the Indian motorcycle market.
Speaking about the Honda CRF190L, it is an entry-level adventure motorcycle in Honda's global product lineup that made its global debut in September 2021.
In terms of the design of the Honda CRF190L, the motorcycle looks like a proper adventure motorcycle and the design has been clearly been inspired by the larger Honda African Twin adventure motorcycle.
This means the upcoming Honda CRF190L gets tall visor mounts and a flat headlamp cowl, giving the motorcycle a quintessential adventure motorcycle looks. Other than this, the Honda CRF190L sports a very familiar side fairing, circular rearview mirrors and a rectangular headlamp unit.
However, unlike the flagship Honda African Twin motorcycle, the Honda CRF190 gets a large single-piece seat. Other than this, the motorcycle also sports a very practical grab rail that is well-integrated into the luggage rack.
Being an adventure motorcycle, Honda has provided the Honda CRF190L with a comfortable yet commanding seating position with mid-set footpegs and an upright handlebar. This means the motorcycle will be equally good on both urban commutes and trail runs.
In terms of powertrain, the Honda CRF190L comes equipped with the same engine that powers other Honda Motorcycles such as the Honda Hornet 2.0 and Honda CB200X.
This 184cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine pushes out 17bhp of peak power at 8,500rpm and 16.1Nm of peak torque at 6,000rpm. Moreover, this peppy unit comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
Moreover, the Honda CRF190L also gets a very off-road friendly 241mm of ground clearance and weighs just 145kgs. Apart from that, the motorcycle rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels.
Other notable features in the upcoming Honda CRF190L is the use of spoked wheels, knobby tyres and conventional forks.
In comparison to the Honda CB200X, the Honda CRF190L offers far more off-road capability and the hardware is significantly different to the road-biased motorcycles. Overall, the Honda CRF190L will appeal to those who regularly take their motorcycle on adventure runs.
When launched, the Honda CRF190L will rival the Hero Xpulse 200, that is if Honda decides to price the adventure motorcycle competitively.
Thoughts About Honda CRF190L
The Honda CRF190L looks very promising motorcycle and it is the right time to launch an entry-level adventure motorcycle as the segment is appealing to a lot more audience these days. However, the success of the Honda CRF190L will heavily depend on the pricing.
