Himalayan 450: Royal Enfield’s Answer To The KTM 390 Adventure
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is a very simple adventure motorcycle designed to take you places without much fuss. However, the Royal Enfield Himalayan produces just 24.3bhp of peak power and 32Nm of peak torque from its 411cc engine.

Though these power and torque figures are decent for a motorcycle in its class, the motorcycle lacks the power needed for effortless long-distance touring and compete with motorcycles such as the KTM 390 Adventure.

To overcome this gap in their product portfolio, Royal Enfield is developing a new Himalayan with a much more potent powertrain and here are a few details about the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 that we think you should know.

Design
The spy pics of the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 have been doing rounds on the internet for quite some time now and going by these pictures, we believe that the upcoming Himalayan 450 will look a lot more premium compared to the standard Himalayan.

Apart from that, the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan will sport a beaked nose, round headlights, a much larger fuel tank, spoked wheels and a lightweight steel trellis frame.

Features
In terms of features, expect the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 to come with a very decent feature list. This will include features such as LED headlights, a Bluetooth-enabled Instrument console, switchable dual-channel ABS, and a few more. Apart from that, the upcoming Royal Enfield may even feature multiple ride modes.

Hardware
In addition to these features, it is highly likely that the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 will feature tubeless-tyre compatible spoked wheels.

Also, to further aid the off-road ability of the motorcycle, the motorcycle will also feature larger 21-inch wheels at the front and standard 17-inch wheels at the rear, both shod with knobbed tyres.
From the spy pics, it is also revealed that the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 will sport USD forks at the front and mono-shock at the rear.

Powertrain
The heart of the upcoming Royal Enfield 450 is a liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. This engine is expected to produce around 45bhp of peak power.

However, sources indicate that the peak power of this engine will be sacrificed for better low-end and mid-range performance. This means the engine in its final state of tune could only produce a peak power of around 40bhp. Apart from that, the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 will feature a 6-speed gearbox.

Price
At present, the KTM 390 Adventure is priced at Rs 3.28 lakh (ex-showroom, India). We expect, Royal Enfield to undercut this KTM motorcycle and price the upcoming Himalayan 450 around Rs 2.75 lakh, ex-showroom.

Thoughts About Upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450
The upcoming Himalayan 450 will be an important product for Royal Enfield, as the product will not allow Royal Enfield to capture new segment but it will also attract more customers in the international markets.
