Royal Enfield "Scrambler 650" Unveiled At EICMA - Is It The Most Exciting Bike Yet From RE?
EICMA 2022 has been just as exciting as its previous iterations and many two-wheeler manufacturers showcased their upcoming motorcycles and future concepts. Moreover, Royal Enfield also stirred up quite a buzz by unveiling the upcoming Super Meteor 650 motorcycle.
Now, Royal Enfield has again garnered a lot of attention by showcasing a Scrambler motorcycle based on the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 motorcycle.
However, the scrambler motorcycle based on the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is not an official product of the Chennai-based two-wheeler manufacturer. Instead, the attention-grabbing showcased scrambler motorcycle is the resulting product of one of many collaborations involving Royal Enfield and third-party custom motorcycle builders.
For making this particular scrambler motorcycle, Royal Enfield collaborated with a UK-based company lodging called 'Bikerbnb'. It is worth mentioning that the showcased scrambler motorcycle features numerous changes to make it a lot more off-road worthy.
Diving into details, for better off-road prowess, the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650-based scrambler motorcycle comes with 19-inch spoked wheels at the front and 17-inch spoked wheels at the rear. Moreover, both these wheels are shod with Pirelli Rally STR tyres.
In addition to the new wheels and tyres, the scrambler motorcycle also features Öhlins suspension at both ends, while the front end comprises of USD forks, and the rear end gets twin shocks. Moreover, the stock handlebar has also been replaced by a flat track-style handlebar.
Other noticeable revisions in the showcased scrambler 650 motorcycle include new LED headlights with a custom grille, a flyscreen that seems to be sourced from the Royal Enfield Himalayan, knuckle guards, custom seats and a few more.
Moreover, to improve the off-road prowess, the motorcycle also features a taller motocross-style front fender, and a 2-to-1 custom exhaust system. Also, the exhaust tip has been tilted slightly upward for better clearance as well.
The showcased scrambler motorcycle has been made pretty sophisticated also with features such as a new instrument cluster and keyless On/Off system.
Since the showcased scrambler motorcycle is based on the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, the scrambler motorcycle is powered by the same 648cc, parallel-twin, fuel-injected petrol engine. This engine produces a healthy 46.3bhp of peak power at 7,250rpm and 52.3Nm of peak torque at 5,650rpm in the standard Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 motorcycle.
However, the showcased motorcycle is likely to produce a bit more power thanks to its new custom exhaust system. Moreover, the scrambler motorcycle is also likely to be tuned differently to suit the character of the motorcycle.
Looking at this scrambler motorcycle, we can have a clear picture of what to expect from the upcoming Royal Enfield 'Scrambler 650'. However, the official motorcycle is highly unlikely to feature premium bits such as Öhlins suspension, LED headlights, and Pirelli Rally STR tyres to keep the production cost in check.
Thoughts About The Royal Enfield 'Scrambler 650'
The showcased scrambler motorcycle based on the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 gives a preview of what to expect from the upcoming Royal Enfield 'Scrambler 650' motorcycle. However, Royal Enfield is likely to make a few design changes to make the motorcycle look a bit different to the Interceptor 650.
