Ducati Desert X Launched In India At Rs 17.91 Lakh – Bookings Open
Italian superbike manufacturer Ducati has launched the much-awaited Desert X in India and the motorcycle is available in just one variant.
Diving into details, the Ducati Desert X motorcycle is priced at Rs 17.91 lakh (ex-showroom, India). In comparison, the Ducati Multistrada V2 is priced at Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
Starting with the powertrain, the newly launched Ducati Desert X motorcycle shares its powertrain with the Ducati Multistrada V2 motorcycle. However, the 937cc, water-cooled, L-twin engine in the Ducati Desert X motorcycle is tuned slightly differently to suit the more off-road focussed nature of the newly launched motorcycle.
Ducati claims that the engine in the newly launched Desert X motorcycle produces 108.5bhp of peak power at 9,250rpm and 92Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. On top of that, this powertrain is said to be 1.7 kilograms lighter than its previous iteration and comes mated to a 6-speed transmission with shorter first and second gears to aid off-road riding and a taller sixth gear for effortless highway cruising.
On top of this, Ducati is even offering six riding modes, which include Sport, Touring, Urban, Wet, Enduro, and Rally. Out of these six riding modes, the first four riding modes are tuned for everyday riding, whereas the last two riding modes are specifically designed for riding in off-road conditions.
Coming to other important mechanical bits, the Ducati Desert X motorcycle features an all-new steel trellis frame, and a fully adjustable front and rear suspension made by Kayaba. While the front suspension uses a 46mm USD fork, and the rear features a mono-shock setup with an Aluminium swingarm.
Being an off-road focused motorcycle, the Ducati Desert X features 21-inch wheels shod with 90/90 tyres at the front and 18-inch wheels shod with 150/70 tyres. It is also worth mentioning that the Ducati Desert X motorcycle featured very rugged spoke wheels and equally rugged Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres at both ends. In terms of braking, the Ducati Desert X motorcycle features two 320mm disc brakes grabbed by 4-piston calipers at the front and a single 265mm disc brake grabbed by a 2-piston caliper.
Furthermore, the Ducati Desert X motorcycle comes with a seat height of 875mm. However, this can be reduced to 865mm with the low-seat accessory. Moreover, the seat height can be further reduced by another 20mm by opting for low suspension ket as well. While taller riders can also opt for high seat accessory, which increases the seat height up to 875mm.It is also worth mentioning that the Ducati Desert X comes with a ground clearance of 250mm and a kerb weight of 202 kilograms.
In terms of features, the Ducati Desert X comes packed with features such as Traction Control, Wheelie Control, Cornering ABS, Engine Brake Control, Bi-directional quick shifter, full LED lighting with LED DRLs, a 5-inch colour TFT display, Cruise Control, Bluetooth connectivity, Turn-by-Turn navigation, and much more.

The Ducati Desert X is a very attractive-looking motorcycle and Ducati claims that the Desert X is a very capable machine. That being said, the motorcycle definitely packs all the necessary tools to compete against the likes of established ADVs such as the Honda African Twin and Triumph Tiger 900 Rally.
