Ather 450X Gen3 Launch On 19th July
Ather Energy is gearing up to launch the new Ather 450X in the Indian electric two-wheeler segment. According to the official social media posts, the updated Ather 450X could be launched on 19th of July.
This new uprated electric scooter is called the Ather 450X Gen3 and this new electric scooter is touted to be not only faster but also offers more range than the outgoing iteration of the Ather 450X electric scooter.
Earlier, it was reported that Ather Energy was working on a long-range version of the Ather 450X electric scooter. We suspect this upcoming Ather 450X Gen3 electric scooter could be the long-range version that was being developed by the EV manufacturer.
Also, a few documents of this 'long-range' version was leaked online and revealed crucial details regarding the electric scooter. According to these leaked documents, Ather Energy initially planned to introduce two variants with the bigger battery pack.
This bigger battery pack according to the leaked document was rated at 3.66kWh instead of the 2.9kWh battery pack that powers the outgoing models. Also, the highest claimed range of the updated variant is claimed to be 146km per full charge according to the leaked documents.
The leaked documents also reveal that the new Ather electric scooter will have multiple ride modes and the more advanced variant of the upcoming version of the Ather electric scooter features 5 ride modes - Eco Mode, Smart Eco Mode, Ride Mode, Sport Mode and Warp Mode.
It is also worth mentioning that the lower variant revealed in the leaked document is missing a few features such as the Warp mode that gives the electric scooter additional performance over the Sport mode. This means the lower variant features only 4 ride modes - Eco Mode, Smart Eco Mode, Ride Mode, and Sport Mode.
In addition to that, this lower variant is rated at 108km despite having an identical battery pack and electric motor.
According to the leaked documents, this uprated iteration of the Ather electric scooter has a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 243kg and measures 1,837mm long, 739mm wide and 1,114mm tall. Moreover, the scooter also sports a wheelbase of 1,296mm.
Out of which, 19kg of the weight comes from the Nickel-Cobalt-based Lithium-ion battery pack and the electric scooter also uses a 3-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor with 6.4kW of peak power.
Recently, Ather Energy rolled out a new OTA update that featured 'Smart Eco' ride mode for Ather 450 Plus and Ather 450X users in India. This update is touted to make the electric scooters a lot more efficient without sacrificing much on rideability.
Thoughts About The Upcoming Ather 450X Gen3
If the upcoming Ather 450X Gen3 is able to deliver a real-world range of around 120km per full charge, the model is going to attract a lot more EV buyers. Moreover, Ather electric scooters come with a solid reliability track record compared to its main competitors.
