Another EV Scooter Explosion: Man Aged 40 Dies
Another EV Scooter battery explodes while charging. The owner of the electric scooter succumbed to the fatal injuries sustained due to the explosion, whereas his wife and kids sustained injuries.

According to sources, the recent incident took place in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh and it was reported that the electric scooter featured a removable battery pack.

Though the exact cause of the explosion is yet to be figured out by the experts, netizens have already started blaming the atmospheric heat as one of the primary causes of exploding batteries in EVs.

However, contrary to the claims, an e-bike recently exploded in New York City, USA. Moreover, according to FDNY, the incident was just one of four incidents on the same day involving an e-bike.

Recently, the Union Road Transport and Highways Minister, Mr Nitin Gadkari also expressed his anguish and concern over the several unfortunate incidents that involved electric two-wheelers.
To put light on the matter, the minister on Thursday assembled an expert committee to look into the recent incidents involving electric two-wheelers catching fire.

In addition to that, the minister also urged the committee to come up with recommendations on remedial steps to curb such incidents in the future.
On 19th April, a similar incident took place in Telangana where an elderly man and his daughter were killed in an explosion that involved an EV battery explosion.

In wake of these incidents, Pure EV, announced that the company has decided to recall 2,000 of its electric scooters after one of its electric scooters exploded while being charged. This is the explosion that resulted in the death of an 80-year old man.

Also, Okinawa Autotech has also released a statement saying that the company is recalling 3,215 units of its Praise Pro electric scooters to fix any underlying issue related to batteries and charging of these batteries.

In the last few weeks alone, many incidents involving electric two-wheelers have been reported across the country. These incidents involved electric scooters belonging to companies such as Okinawa, Ola Electric, Pure EV and Jitendra EV.
Also, Mr Nitin Gadkari had earlier warned about heavy penalties for those EV manufacturers involved in such incidents.

Thoughts About Electric Scooter Incidents
Thanks to rising fuel prices, more and more people are now buying electric two-wheelers and many start-up companies have cropped up around this demand. However, some EV manufacturers seem to have very poor standards of testing in order to launch the products sooner and cheaper to gain market dominance.
