Though the price itself may seem like the highlight of the motorcycle, it is actually the powertrain on the new 2023 Yamaha 'Fazer FZ 15' that deserves the attention. Unlike the previous powertrains used in this model, the new engine in the 2023 Yamaha FZ 15 is designed to run on both petrol and ethanol.
In petrol, the 149cc, single-cylinder, SOHC, 2-valve engine produces 12.2bhp of peak power at 7,500rpm and 12.7Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. Both of these numbers are slightly down from the outgoing model in India as it is capable of producing 12.4bhp of peak power at 7,250rpm and 13.3Nm of peak torque at 5,500rpm.
However, running in ethanol, the new 2023 Yamaha FZ 15 is capable of producing 12.4bhp of peak power at 7,500rpm and 13Nm of peak torque at 5,500rpm. This means the new 2023 Yamaha FZ 15 motorcycle is more powerful running on ethanol.
In terms of hardware, the 2023 Yamaha FZ 15 uses the tried-and-tested diamond frame chassis and sports 41mm conventional telescopic suspension at the front and a mono-shock at the rear. Also, the new 2023 Yamaha FZ 15 motorcycle comes with 100/80 R17 tyres at the front and 140/60 R17 tyres at the rear.
Braking duties on the new 2023 Yamaha FZ 15 motorcycle are taken care of by a single 282mm disc brake at the front and a single 220mm disc brake at the rear. Moreover, the new 2023 Yamaha FZ 15 motorcycle comes with single-channel ABS for better braking performance and safety.
Coming to the design, the new 2023 Yamaha FZ 15 motorcycle sports an evolutionary design language that looks very similar to the outgoing Yamaha FZ 25 motorcycle, and can be immediately recognised as a Yamaha FZ lineup motorcycle despite sporting a new design.
Diving into the details, the new 2023 Yamaha FZ 15 motorcycle sports a new projector-type LED headlight with LED DRLs on the top. Moreover, the new 2023 Yamaha FZ 15 motorcycle sports a muscular headlamp cowl as well.
Speaking about the muscular design, the new fuel tank looks very muscular in its design and makes the motorcycle look much bigger in pictures. In addition to that, the new 2023 Yamaha FZ 15 motorcycle continues to use a single-piece seat and a digital instrument cluster. However, the tell-tale lights on the new motorcycle seem to have been repositioned.
In terms of colour options, the new 2023 Yamaha FZ 15 motorcycle comes in three colour options - Racing Blue, Midnight Black, and Magma Red.
Thoughts About The 2023 Yamaha FZ 15 Motorcycle
Though the new powertrain is slightly less powerful and may seem like a step down on paper, in reality, Yamaha has paved a new path for future Yamaha motorcycles in the country.
