Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Honda has revealed the 2023 NT1100. The Africa Twin based Honda NT1100 sport tourer features new colour options for 2023 and is offered with either manual or DCT transmission options.
Like the CRF1100L Africa Twin adventure motorcycle on which it is based, the new 2023 Honda NT1100 is powered by a liquid-cooled, 8-valve, 1,084cc parallel twin engine with 270 degree crank and uni-cam that produces 100.57bhp at 7,500rpm and 104Nm of peak torque at 6,250rpm.
The engine of the 2023 Honda NT1100 is paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT) that send power to the rear wheel via a chain drive setup. The DCT offers 4 different modes that control how the setup shifts gears in auto mode and riders can also control it manually using buttons on the handlebars. Honda offers a quickshifter for the NT1100 as an optional accessory.
The Honda NT1100 sport tourer offers five different riding modes - Urban, Rain, Tour, User 1 and User 2 - with the final two allowing the rider to fully customize the setup. Other electronic aids on the NT1100 include cruise control, wheelie control and a three-step traction control system.
The Honda NT1100 features a steel semi-double cradle frame with a bolt-on rear sub-frame made from aluminium. At the front, the sport tourer features Showa's SFF-BP upside down fork with 150mm travel while at the rear the NT1100 sports a Pro-link monoshock also offering 150mm of travel along with a monoblock aluminium swingarm.
The Honda NT1100 rides on 17-inch multi-spoke cast aluminium wheels shod with 120/70 R17 (front) and 180/55 R17 (rear) tyres. Braking duties on the 238kg NT1100 are handled by twin 310mm discs clamped by four-piston Nissin callipers at the front and a 256mm disc at the rear with a single-piston calliper.
In terms of design, the Honda NT1100 sports sleek, angular LED headlights with integrated LED DRLs as well as a 5-way adjustable windscreen. Other features on the Honda NT1100 include the chunky exhaust setup as well as the two detachable 65-litre panniers that come fitted to the bike as standard.
The new NT1100 sports a 6.5-inch TFT touchscreen display with three layouts. Also seen is another secondary LCD unit that sits below the larger screen. The larger display supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as well as Bluetooth.
Other noteworthy features on the Honda NT1100 include the USB socket to charge your device, heated grips and a 20-litre fuel tank that Honda claims will deliver a range of 400km. The Honda NT1100 is offered in three colour options - Metallic Pearl Glare White, Matte Iridium Gray and Graphite Black.
Thoughts About The Honda NT1100
The 2023 Honda NT1100 sits between the firms 750cc tourers and the massive GOldwing and offers what appears to be a happy mix of both sides of the coin, which is why we wish Honda would bring it to India.
