2023 Ducati Scrambler Lineup Unveiled - Time To Scramble
Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati has revealed its new Scrambler lineup for 2023. The 2023 Ducati Scrambler lineup consists of three models - Icon, Full Throttle and Nightshift.
Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati has revealed its new Scrambler lineup for 2023. The 2023 Ducati Scrambler lineup consists of three models - Icon, Full Throttle and Nightshift and will start arriving in showrooms worldwide in March 2023.
All three Ducati Scrambler models continue to draw power from an air-cooled, 803cc L-Twin engine that produces 72bhp at 8,250rpm and 65.2Nm of peak torque at 7,000rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox with straight-cut gears and a slipper clutch.
The new Ducati Scrambler also features a ride-by-wire throttle that allows for the adoption of Ducati's traction control setup. This setup now means that the 2023 Ducati Scrambler offers two riding modes - Road and wet with the latter offering up a smoother throttle response and a traction control calibration more oriented to stability and safety for riding on wet surfaces.
The new 2023 Ducati Scrambler lineup is 4 kilos lighter than the outgoing bikes at 185kg (kerb weight). This has been achieved thanks to new internals for the powerplant that help the Desmodromic L-Twin engine shed around 2.5 kilos in weight and a lightened trellis frame setup.
Speaking about the chassis, the trellis frame has been updated and lightened for the 2023 lineup and the bikes feature a new swingarm and a bolt-on rear subframe. At the front, the 2023 Ducati Scrambler sports an upside-down 41mm Kayaba fork. At the rear, the new Scrambler gets the aforementioned new swingarm along with a mono-shock unit, once again from Kayaba, that allows owners to adjust the pre-load.
The 2023 Ducati Scrambler lineup ride on redesigned 18-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels. The wheels are shod with Pirelli MT 60 RS tyres - 110/80 R18 (front) and 180/55 R17 (rear).
Also seen on the new Ducati Scrambler lineup is a 4.3-inch TFT display that allows owners to connect their Scramblers to their phones via Bluetooth, allowing them to manage music and calls with the Ducati Multimedia system.
In terms of design changes, the entry-level Icon model gets a redesigned fuel tank and seat and features interchangeable panels that can be specced in up to 9 different colour options.
The Full Throttle model is inspired by American flat track racers and features the number 62 on the side panels, which is a tribute to 1962, the first year that the Scrambler nameplate appeared on a Ducati.
The Scrambler Full Throttle sports a dedicated livery in Red GP19 / Dark Stealth colours and new saddle graphics. Also seen is the road-legal Termignoni silencer, which should let the world hear the bark of the L-Twin engine even better.
The Nightshift model adopts the cafe racer aesthetic with a flat handlebar, bar-end mirrors and chopped front fender, and spoked wheels that are finished in black. The Scrambler Nightshift is offered in a distinctive Nebula Blue colour with the brown seat finishing off the look.
Thoughts On The 2023 Ducati Scrambler Lineup
The Ducati Scrambler lineup has been updated for the first time since it was introduced back in 2014. The changes help the bike shed weight while also adding more tech that should make this, the most accessible bike in the Ducati lineup, an even more interesting proposition when it arrives in 2023.
