2023 BMW M 1000 RR Revealed With Aero Upgrades & 314km/h Top Speed
German motorcycle manufacturer BMW Motorrad has revealed the new M 1000 RR faired supersports bike.
German motorcycle manufacturer BMW Motorrad has revealed the new M 1000 RR faired supersports bike. The 2023 BMW M 1000 RR features an updated design with more aero that helps the bonkers supersports bike hit a top speed of 314km/h. Deliveries of the new BMW M 1000 RR will start in the first half of 2023.
The BMW M 1000 RR continues to draw power from a water-cooled, 999cc, 4-cylinder, DOHC engine with 4 per cylinder that pushes out 209.2bhp at 14,500rpm and 113Nm of peak torque at 11,000rpm. The engine sends power to the rear wheel via a 6-speed transmission.
The engine on the new BMW M 1000 RR sports 2-ring forged pistons, variable valve timing (BMW ShiftCam) technology, titanium valves, optimised camshafts, light cam holders and lighter titanium connecting rods. The new M 1000 RR also sports an anti-hopping clutch without self-boosting that has been optimised for race starts.
BMW claims that the 2023 M 1000 RR will sprint from 0-100km/h in just 3.1 seconds and hit a top speed of 314km/h. The top speed of the new M 1000 RR has increased by 8km/h compared to its predecessor which could hit 306km/h.
BMW claims this increase in top speed is mostly down to the new M 1000 RR's increased levels of downforce. According to BMW, the 2023 M 1000 RR generates 6.3 kilogrammes more downforce at 300km/h when compared to its predecessor with the new supersports bike generating 22.6 kilos of downforce at those crazy speeds.
The extra downforce is generated mainly due to the new carbon-fibre fairing with its taller windscreen and the new winglets that are also made from the strong weight-saving material.
Another major upgrade comes on the front wheel which sports brake cooling air ducts, which for the first time in the history of BMW Motorrad are made from carbon fibre. These brake cooling ducts are now integrated into the front mudguard and can cool the supersport bike's stoppers by as much as 10 degrees Celsius. BMW also claims that these new carbon fibre brake ducts help improve airflow around the M 1000 RR's fork legs and callipers.
Also seen on the new M 1000 RR are the new carbon-fibre wheels that stand out from the crowd with their clear lacquer coat. The new carbon fibre wheels sport a touch of colour in the form of M Design Tapes. The wheels also feature aero covers that are made from carbon fibre as well and lower air resistance even further - especially at speeds above 250km/h.
Other changes on the 2023 BMW M 1000 RR compared to its predecessor come in the form of a redesigned rear end along with the M Endurance seat and the short number plate holder. The new BMW M 1000 RR also sports a lightweight Akrapovic exhaust system with a titanium manifold, front silencer and rear silencer.
Thoughts About The 2023 BMW M 1000 RR
The new BMW M 1000 RR has become an even crazier race-optimised machine that looks set to scorch race tracks across the world.
