2022 Yamaha Aerox Launched In Indonesia: No Mechanical Changes
2022 iteration of the Yamaha Aerox 155 maxi-scooter has been unveiled for the Indonesian market. That being said, the 2021 iteration of the maxi-scooter is already on sale in India and the 2022 model of the Aerox 155 maxi-scooter will soon reach the Indian shores.
As for the updates in the 2022 model, the maxi-scooter gets six new exterior colour shades which include Matte Black Cyan, Dark Grey Yellow, Matte Black Gold, Matte White Gold, Black with Red highlights, and Red with Black bodywork.
In Indonesia, the 2022 Yamaha Aerox is available in two variants - Connected and ABS. However, the Yamaha Aerox in India is available with ABS as a standard equipment to comply with stringent Indian safety norms.
The most highlighting feature of the Yamaha Aerox 155 is its powertrain and the 2022 model of the Yamaha Aerox continues to use the tried-and-tested 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected VVA petrol engine from the Yamaha R15. However, the engine has been slightly re-tuned to produce 14.7bhp and 13.9Nm of torque.
In comparison, the Yamaha Aerox 155's nearest competitor in India, the Aprilia SR160 produces 10.9 Bhp and 11.6Nm of torque.
Apart from this, the feature list on the 2022 Yamaha Aerox in Indonesia looks almost similar to the outgoing model in India with features such as LED headlights, LED taillamps, digital instrument cluster, Bluetooth connectivity and a few more.
Like the 2021 model, the 2022 iteration of the Yamaha Aerox continues to use telescopic suspension at the front, twin shock absorbers at the rear. Also, the maxi-scooter comes with 14-inch wheels shod with 110/80-section tyres at the front and chunky 140/70-section tyres at the rear.
Moreover, the 2022 Yamaha Aerox braking setup comprises of 230mm disc brake at the front and a 130mm drum brake at the rear - which seems adequate for the scooter of this size and performance. That being said, the 2022 Yamaha Aerox continues to be quite practical too with its large underseat storage space which is rated at 24.5 litres.
Thoughts About 2022 Yamaha Aerox
The 2022 update for the Yamaha Aerox consists of new exterior colour schemes which does make the maxi-scooter look a bit younger. However, given the Yamaha Aerox 155 has been launched recently in India, it will be better if Yamaha updates the maxi-scooter with a bit more technology and features even if it takes a few more months to roll out the updates.
