Japanese Two-Wheeler manufacturer, Honda, has launched two premium motorcycle in the Indian market. The company has updated the CBR650R and introduced the CB650R Neo Cafe Racer in the country.
The 2021 Honda CBR650R retails at Rs 8.88 lakh. While the CB650R Neo Cafe Racer costs Rs 8.67 lakh. Both prices mentioned are ex-showroom (Gurugram). Motorcycles share most of the mechanicals between them.
Both motorcycles are offered two paint scheme each. CB650R buyers can choose between Candy Chromosphere Red & Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic. On the other hand, CBR650R is offered in Grand Prix Red & Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic.
The middle-weight motorcycles feature an updated engine. The in-line four-cylinder 649cc engine has been updated to meet the latest BS6 emission standards. It produces a maximum of 86bhp at 12,000rpm and a peak torque of 57.5Nm at 8,500rpm.
The engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox along with a slip assist clutch. Additionally, the CB650R and the CBR650R feature a 4 into 1 side-swept exhaust that adds to the overall looks of the motorcycle.
The similarities go further deep on both motorcycles they use the same chassis, suspension and brakes setup. The frame is a twin-tube type that is paired with a conventional swing-arm.
Suspension duties on both motorcycles are handled by a Showa Separate Function-Big Piston (SSF-BP) USD Forks at the front and a mono-shock suspension at the rear. Both of which are adjustable for preload.
Braking on the motorcycles is done via dual 310mm rotors with four-piston brake callipers at the front and a single 240mm rotor at the rear. Motorcycles are offered with Dual-channel ABS as standard.
Other electronics rider aids and safety system on the CB650R and the CBR650R include (ESS) Emergency Stop Signal, (HISS) Honda Ignition Security System and (HSTC) Honda Selectable Torque Control. The rider can choose to switch the torque control (TC) on or off via a switch on the left handlebar.
The digital LCD instrument cluster on both motorcycles is also the same. The instrument cluster provides readouts for gear position, digital speedometer, digital bar-graph tachometer, dual trip meters, digital fuel level gauge and fuel gauge; among others.
Speaking about the design, the CBR650R hasn't changed much from its BS4 counterpart. The motorcycle features a dual-pod headlamp design that comes equipped with LED units. The taillamps and turn-signal indicators are also LED units as well.
The fully-faired motorcycle features a split-seat with new side panels that accentuate the overall design. The CBR650R features a slightly aggressive rider geometry with clip-on handlebars and rear-set footpegs.

Thoughts About The 2021 Honda CB650R & CBR650R Launched In India
Honda has launched two new premium motorcycles that cater to the Indian middle-weight segment. However, both motorcycles have been priced at over 8 lakh rupees, making it expensive than their respective rivals. The CB650R and the CBR650R primarily rival the Kawasaki Z650 and the Ninja 650 in the Indian market.
