German motorcycle manufacturer BMW Motorrad has revealed that has sold 5,000 bikes in India this year, a record for the Bavarian marque. BMW seems to have Overcome the current sentiment in the two-wheeler industry and will post a growth of over 100% in 2021 as compared to 2020.

BMW Motorrad has revealed that nearly 90 per cent of the 5,000 bikes sold in India were its entry-level G 310 R and G 310 GS motorcycles that are made in collaboration with TVS. The strong demand for BMW Motorrad bikes in the Indian market was also driven by a slew of new bikes hitting the nation's roads including the BMW R 1250 GS and BMW R 1250 GS Adventure, the BMW R nine T and BMW R nine T Scrambler, the BMW S 1000 R, the all-new BMW M 1000 RR and BMW R 18 Classic. BMW Motorrad also launched its first-ever scooter for the Indian market in 2021 in the form of the all-new BMW C 400 GT.

The German marque's all-new C 400 GT is the most powerful and expensive scooter currently on sale in India. The BMW C 400 GT is priced at Rs 9.99 lakh and is powered by a 350cc, liquid cooled, single cylinder engine that produces 33.5bhp at 7,500rpm and 35Nm of peak torque at 5,750rpm. The engine is paired with a CVT automatic gearbox that sends power to the rear wheel.

The BMW C 400 GT's frame is of a steel tube construction with an aluminium die-cast unit. The German maxi scooter features a telescopic front fork with 35mm diameter up front and dual shock absorbers and a double aluminium swingarm.

The BMW C 400 GT sports disc brakes on either wheel. The front section sports double 264mm diameter discs with two-pot callipers while the rear features a single 264mm unit with single-piston callipers. The features a staggered setup with a 15-inch alloy wheel up front clad in 120/70 R15 tyre and a 14-inch unit at the rear with a tyre measuring 150/70 R14.

The BMW C 400 GT weighs in at 214 kilogrammes with all the fluids and a full tank of fuel. The fuel tank has a capacity of 12.8-litres with an additional reserve of 3-litres.
