BMW M 1000 RR Launched In India Starting At Rs 42 Lakh: The Lightest & ‘M’eanest Is Here!

BMW Motorrad India has launched the all-new BMW M 1000 RR in the country. It is the first M model introduced by the brand in India. The Supersport motorcycle is offered in two variants: Standard and Competition.

The BMW M1000 RR retails at a starting price tag of Rs 42 lakh. The top-spec M 1000 RR Competition costs Rs 45 lakh. Both motorcycles can be booked at all BMW Motorrad India dealerships from today onwards. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom (India).

The BMW M 1000 RR arrives at the Indian shores via (CBU) Completely Built-Up route. The motorcycle is available in a single M Sport colour scheme of Light White, Racing Blue Metallic and Racing Red colours.

Starting with the engine, the M 1000 RR uses the same 999cc in-line four engine from the S 1000 RR. However, it now features ShiftCam technology with variable valve timing, 2-ring forged pistons, titanium connecting rods and lighter rocker arms; among others.

All of which has resulted in the same engine now producing a maximum of 210bhp at 14,500rpm and a peak torque of 113Nm at 11,000rpm. The engine on the M model produces more power in the mid-range between 6,000rpm and 15,100rpm, which is important while racing on tracks.

The M RR sprints from 0 - 100kmph in 3.1 seconds and can achieve a maximum speed of 306kmph.

The gearbox is also optimised for a better mid-range on the M1000 RR. It continues a six-speed unit that features a slip-assist clutch and a bi-directional quickshifter for seamless and quicker up and downshifts without the use of a clutch.

Suspension duties are handled by 45mm USD forks at the front and a mono-shock setup at the rear. Both suspension units are fully adjustable for preload, rebound and compression and feature the brand's Full Floater Pro kinematics technology.

Braking duties are handled by M-spec units from Nissin at both ends. Setup at the front includes a twin 320mm disc with radially mounted four-piston callipers, while the rear gets a single 220mm unit with a two-piston calliper.

The M RR features a 6.5-inch TFT display for the instrument cluster. It supports M GPS data logger and M GPS lap trigger for additional race data. The M motorcycle features a whole host of the electronics package.

This includes seven different riding modes: 'Rain', 'Road', 'Dynamic', 'Race' and 'Race Pro1-3'. Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) with DTC wheelie function with a 6-axle sensor, Launch Control, Pit-Lane-Limiter, Hill Start Control Pro, Two adjustable characteristics for throttle curves, adjustable engine braking, and the BMW Motorrad Race ABS Pro.

The M 1000 RR continues to feature the same design as the S 1000 RR standard motorcycle. It features twin-pod LED headlamps with integrated DRLs, LED tail lamp, large rear-view mirrors mounted on the fairing along the carbon-fibre front and rear fenders. Most components of the M1000 RR is finished in carbon-fibre making it one of the lightest motorcycle that BMW has ever made.

Apart from the standard model, the M 1000 RR is also available in a top-spec Competition variant. The M 1000 RR Competition features a whole host of upgrades over the standard variant of the motorcycle.

This includes an M GPS-lap trigger, a pillion seat cover, and a host of M-Spec components such as M Carbon front and rear mudguard, M Carbon upper fairing, left and ride side panels, M Carbon tank cover, M Carbon chain guard, and M Carbon sprocket cover.

The motorcycle also features an M Billet pack, which includes M engine protectors, M folding brake lever, M brake lever guard, M folding clutch lever, and M rider footrest system.

BMW is offering the motorcycle with a 3-year unlimited kilometres warranty. Customers can choose to extend the warranty to the fourth and the fifth year at an additional cost. The motorcycle is also offered with a 24x7 Road-Side Assistance package.

BMW Financial Services India will offer customized and flexible financial solutions. Customers can also get their loans pre-approved before delivery takes place.
