Yamaha Motor Group India announced their involvement in the fight against COVID-19 in the country. The company employees pledged a voluntary donation of a day's salary from the month of April 2020.
The donation from the employees added up to a total amount of Rs 61.5 lakh. The donation came from both white and blue-collar employees, along with some trainees as well. These employees were based at three facilities at Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. It also included employees working out of the corporate office in Chennai and other area offices across India.
Yamaha announced that out of the total Rs 61.5 lakh amount, Rs 11.5 lakh will be donated towards the PM CARES Fund. The remaining Rs 50 lakh will be split into two equal parts (Rs 25 lakh each) and donated to the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund (Government of Tamil Nadu) and Chief Minister Distress Relief Fund (Government of Uttar Pradesh).
The donation from Yamaha Motor India will allow both the states and the central governments to acquire any and all essential commodities and equipment, required to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. The company stated that it is their moral responsibility to offer support and make efforts to help the government during these unprecedented times.
Takahiro Henmi, Executive Vice President, Yamaha Motor India has commented on the donation and said,

"I appreciate and also feel proud as our employees decided to join the global community in full spirit by voluntarily donating a day's salary. It will certainly help the government to fast track relief measures for the people of India. We will also continue to provide assistance to the government in the best way we can."
