Okinawa Plans To Expand Its Dealership Network By Adding More Than 150 Dealers Across India

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the automobile sector across the globe has taken a bad hit. Manufacturers across our country have faced a huge financial crisis as production was halted during the nationwide lockdown. However, the Government has now eased up the lockdown so all the manufacturers are trying to do their best to catch up.

Recently, Okinawa, an electric two-wheeler manufacturing company, has announced aggressive dealership expansion plans. The company, at the moment, has over 350 dealership networks. However, Okinawa plans to add more than 150 dealerships across the country and cross the 500 plus dealership network mark. To make this thing possible, the brand also plans to target sub-dealers apart from the primary dealers.

The company also announced a hike in dealership margins from 8 per cent to 11 per cent. This step was taken so that to support the partners amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The company would primarily be targeting cities across the states of Bihar, Maharashtra, Assam and the Eastern region of the country. However, Okinawa dealerships have been operating with limited staff, as per the rules and regulations set by the Government, to maintain the social distancing norms.

Jeetender Sharma, MD and Founder, Okinawa Scooters, stated, "There is no doubt that it will take a little time for the market to pick up. While things gradually return to normalcy, we plan to grow ourselves across the country to serve the customers better. As the COVID-19 curve flats, there will be a demand for private vehicles. Given the fact that electric vehicles are economically more viable in the longer run, people would want to opt for it. We are spreading our wings to provide our customers across the cities with easy availability of the products and services."

In other recent Okinawa news, the company reported sales of over 1,000 units in the month of May 2020. Okinawa also had to temporarily suspend its manufacturing and retail operations due to the Coronavirus pandemic, however, the company has resumed operations in a phase-wise following the proper rules and regulations.

Thoughts About Okinawa Expanding Its Dealership Network

The demand for electric two-wheelers, in India, has been increasing in a steady manner in FY2020, which is a 20 per cent growth over FY2019. So Okinawa, by spreading its dealership network will definitely be a boon for the company in the near future.
