Benelli TRK 502, TRK 502X & Leoncino 500 BS6 Models Will Be Arriving Soon In India

Italian-based two-wheeler manufacturer, Benelli is yet to update their motorcycle line-up to meet BS6 emission standards. The only motorcycle to have received the BS6 update from the company is the Imperiale 400.

According to the latest reports from Zigwheels, the company is looking to launch the Benelli TRK 502, TRK 502X and the Leoncino 500 BS6 motorcycle in the Indian market. As per the reports, one of the three motorcycles could arrive in November 2020.

All the three motorcycles will be powered by the same engine with a slight change in the gear ratios. The TRK 502 and the TRK 502X could have more torque biased engine, while the Leoncino 500 is expected to have a balanced engine set-up.

Powering these motorcycles will be an updated version of the same 499cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that was featured on the BS4 models. It produced 47.6bhp and 45Nm of torque and came mated to a six-speed gearbox.

Speaking about the motorcycles itself, the Leoncino 500 is expected to remain the same in terms of styling and features. The scrambler-style motorcycle features a round-shaped projector headlamp, up-right handlebar, the brand's metallic ornament on the front fender, and a fully-digital instrument cluster; among others.

The suspension is handled by 50mm USD (Upside Down) forks up front and a mono-shock suspension set up at the rear, with pre-load adjustability. Braking is done via 320mm twin-discs at the front and a 260mm single disc at the rear, supported by dual-channel ABS as standard.

Moving to the adventure-tourer motorcycles, the TRK 502 and the TRK 502X are expected to receive a few updates in its BS6 iteration. Benelli's parent company, QJMotors (QianJiang), has teased its upcoming SRT500 motorcycle, which is a based on the TRK 502 in China.

The teased motorcycle is 10kg lighter and slimmer than the TRK502 BS4 models. It also comes packed with better features and hardware. However, the updated motorcycle is highly unlikely to make it to the Indian market as new updates would make the TRK 502s expensive in the market.

The TRK 502 is a road-biased touring motorcycle and feature lesser equipment than its off-road biased sibling. On the other hand, the TRK 502X features spoked wheels, a slightly bigger engine guard, a high-mounted exhaust, a luggage rack at the rear and increased rider seat height and ground clearance over the TRK 502 model.

The TRK 502 and TRK 502X use dual 320mm discs at the front and a 260mm disc at the rear. While the TRK 502X gets petal disc brake units, the TRK 502 features conventional units. Both motorcycles come equipped with the same suspension hardware that consists of 50mm inverted front forks and a mono-shock at the rear.
