Yamaha FZ & FZS-Fi BS6 Motorcycles Launched In India: Prices Start At Rs 99,200
Yamaha Motorcycles India has launched the BS-VI compliant versions of the FZ and FZS-Fi products in the Indian market. The company had previously announced the introduction of BS6-compliant models from November 2019.
The two motorcycles, the Yamaha FZ and FZS-FI BS-VI are priced at Rs 99,200 and Rs 1.01 lakh, respectively. Both prices are ex-showroom (Delhi). Yamaha had recently introduced the ABS versions of the two motorcycles during the first months of 2019, as part of the brand's ‘Call of the Blue' campaign.
In addition to the introduction of the BS-VI version of the two motorcycles, Yamaha has also launched two new paint schemes on the FZS-FI. This includes the Darknight and Metallic Red. Among these, the Darknight is priced at a slight premium compared to the standard at Rs 1.02 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi).
Other standard paint options on the Yamaha FZS-Fi BS-VI include Dark Matte Blue, Matte Black, Grey and Cyan Blue. Similarly, the Yamaha FZ BS-VI is offered with two standard colour options, including Metallic Black and Racing Blue.
Both motorcycles carry forward the same 149cc single-cylinder air-cooled BS-VI compliant engine. It produces 12bhp at 7,250rpm and 13.6Nm of torque at 5,500rpm; mated to a five-speed constant mesh gearbox.
Apart from the above-mentioned changes, the two motorcycles remain the same. It continues to carry forward all the features, including LED headlamps, LED tail lights, LCD display for the instrument cluster, single-channel ABS and a host of others as well.
Motofumi Shitara, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group of companies said,
"FZ is an iconic brand and many motorcyclists have been brought up well from its cradle. This popularity served more concern to the company while planning for its BS VI variant. Yamaha strived for optimum cost control and achieved to peg it around 2.5% higher, only to let FZ's excitement stay unrestrained in India."
"The new BS VI models in 150 cc is also expected to yield Yamaha's strong presence in the deluxe class 2W category."
Thoughts On The Yamaha FZ & FZS-Fi BS6 Motorcycles
Yamaha had already confirmed the introduction of their BS-VI product lineup from November 2019. The company has finally started introducing BS-VI compliant models in the Indian market, almost 4 months ahead of the emission norms implementation. Yamaha is the third brand after Honda and Hero MotoCorp to introduce BS-VI compliant two-wheelers in India.
