KTM 250 Adventure Unveiled Via Indonesian Website: India Bound Early Next Year

Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM has unveiled its 250 Adventure via it's Indonesian website. KTM did not reveal the motorcycle at the EICMA 2019, and let the motorcycle's elder sibling, the 390 Adventure bask in all glory. Rumor has it that the 350 Adventure is India bound.

The just about unveiled KTM 250 Adventure looks almost identical to the company's 390 Adventure motorcycle. The biggest difference is that the motorcycle features the headlamp from the Duke 250.

Outside of that, it features the same windscreen, 14.5-litre fuel tank, same radiator & underbelly cowl, split seat setup and LED tail lamp. The 5.5-inch TFT instrument cluster seems to be borrowed from the 390 Adventure, as opposed to the LCD screen that is featured on the 250 Duke.

KTM's newest ADV shares its dimensions with the 390 Adventure, including 200mm of ground clearance and 855mm of seat height. While the 19/17-inch front-rear wheel combination remains the same, the 250 Adventure features MRF Mogrip Meteor FM2 tyres instead of the 390's Continental tyres.

The front and rear WP suspension featured on the 250 Adventure have the same travel as that of the ones on the 390, however they miss out on the adjustability options. KTM has also removed high-end features such as ride-by-wire throttle and traction control on the 250 Adventure.

Braking hardware remains the same and the all new KTM 250 Adventure features a 320mm disc at the front, and a 230mm disc at the rear. The braking system also features switchable dual-channel ABS, and a Supermoto mode.

The 250 Adventure features the same engine that is on the Duke 250. This 248.76cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor churns produces 29.6bhp of power, and 24Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission, albeit with different gear ratios to accommodate adventure style motorcycling.

Once launched, we expect the KTM Adventure 250 to be priced between Rs 2.35 lakh and Rs 2.65 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The motorcycle will compete with the Royal Enfield Himalayan.

Thoughts About The 250 Adventure

Well, KTM appears to be concentrating heavily on a price bracket. We understand that smaller capacity motorcycles are a big seller in India, and that is what KTM seems to be gunning for. Offer absolute performance at the lowest price possible, and dominate the segment. Good for them!
