Jawa Sales Report: No Numbers Available Says SIAM
While sales figures for the Mahindra Mojo are available, Jawa sales figures for the first six months of the current financial year (April-September 2019) remain unavailable. Jawa had last shared sales & dispatch data from November 2018 until March 2019.
According to the last bit of sales & dispatch data shared, a total of 255 motorcycles were dispatched during the five month period. A majority of these motorcycles were sent to Jawa dealerships as test and display vehicles.
Classic Legends announced, via a press release, that motorcycles were sold out until September 2019. The lack of data available for the period between April and September 2019 however, appears otherwise.
A lack of data could mean one of two things. One, the Classic Legends does not want sales numbers revealed just yet; or two, the Jawa motorcycles are not selling as furiously as the company expected.
With the numerous issues with vendors, production, deliveries, rust, and a busted delivery estimator revolving around the Jawa brand, the company has received a lot of canceled bookings. This has resulted in lower sales — one would see more Jawa motorcycles on the streets if sales were up.
Jawa recently launched an Anniversary Edition variant with the aim of increasing sales numbers. The Anniversary Edition limited to just 90 units, and is available for immediate delivery. Who the motorcycles get delivered to however, it a game of chance.
Jawa Motorcycles will select 90 customers via a lucky draw. Customers who book a Jawa motorcycle before October 22 will be eligible to win ‘an immediate delivery' of the limited edition motorcycles.
Classic Legends has plans to launch three more motorcycles under the Jawa banner. Details of the new motorcycles will be announced on November 15, marking one year of Jawa's presence in India. Classic Legends also plans to resurrect the BSA and Yezdi brand of motorcycles as part of its long-term plans.
Thoughts About Sales Data Being Unavailable For Jawa Motorcycles
Jawa Motorcycles have come a long way. From being a prized possession during the 70's and the 80's, to a once-was icon during our times. The latest addition to their line up of problems (maybe more than features on the motorcycles at this point) is lack of sales numbers. Talk about expectation vs reality! Classic Legends need to fix whatever issues they have immediately. Any longer, and expectations and perceptions will remain stagnant.
