Honda Activa 125 BS-VI Deliveries Commence Six Months Ahead Of BS-VI Deadline
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has started deliveries of the Activa 125 BS-VI in the Indian market. Deliveries of the Honda Activa 125 BS-VI have started right at the start of the festive season. The first Honda Activa 125 BS-VI was delivered to its owners in Delhi. Nationwide deliveries of the scooter have begun.
Back in June 2019, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India revealed the Activa 125 BS-VI. The Indian market is heading towards the implementation of BS-VI emissions regulations. BS-VI is comparable to Euro-VI emissions norms in terms of the pollution emitted out of the tailpipe of a vehicle.
The norms are stricter and require manufacturers to cut down on emissions by a large margin. Several manufacturers thought the April 2020 deadline was too early. However, some other manufacturers took it up as a challenge and Honda features right on top of the list.
Honda Revealed the Activa 125 BS-VI on 12 June, 2019, nearly 10 months ahead of the deadline given by the Indian government. Three months later, the scooter was launched in India at a price of Rs 67,490. It became the first BS-VI two-wheeler to be launched in India. Now, Honda has started deliveries of the scooter across the nation.
Yadvinder Singh Guleria, the Senior VP of sales and marketing for Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, "The all new Activa 125 BVI is built with Honda's superior technology and many segment-first-features, which will bring more value and convenience to the customers."
"There is a lot of excitement around the 1st BSVI mass segment 2Wheeler in India. With the overwhelming response, we are delighted to begin the deliveries giving one more reason to our customers to celebrate this festival with #aQuietRevolution."
The Honda Activa 125 features styling that is similar to the BS-IV model. The changes in design are very subtle and Up front is an LED headlamp. The turn signal indicators and LED DRLs are placed on either sides of the front apron. A chrome element completes the design up front.
When viewed from the side, the five-spoke alloy wheels with matte black alloy wheels grabs one's attention. Chrome trim on the metal bodywork lends the scooter an exotic touch. Instrumentation duties are handled by an analogue-digital unit.
The analogue bit of the cluster displays the speed while the digital bit displays the fuel gauge, odometer, trip meters, real-time fuel efficiency, distance-to-empty, etc. The single-biggest change though comes in the form of the new FI engine.
The Honda Activa 125 BS-VI is powered by an air-cooled, fuel-injected, 125cc, single cylinder engine. It has a maximum power output of 8.4bhp and a peak torque output of 10.54Nm. Honda is promoting this scooter with the #aQuietRevolution hashtag and this is due to the quiet nature of this scooter.
The Honda Activa 125 BS-VI features Honda's silent start feature. The starter motor turns the crankshaft a little backwards first before cranking it in the right direction. This allows it to start quietly. Needless to say, the fuel injection and the new exhaust system will make the scooter cleaner and greener.
Ankur Arora, the owner of the first BS-VI Honda Activa in India said, "It's an exciting moment for me and my family to receive the first Activa 125 BSVI (Deluxe variant). We also own the Activa 3G which we have been using since many years. Being highly satisfied with the ownership experience, we chose to step-up to the new technology and innovation of Activa 125 BSVI."
Thoughts On Honda Activa BS-VI Deliveries Commencing
The Honda Activa has been a revolutionary scooter since the very beginning. When the first-gen was launched back in 2001, it was unlike any other scooter in the market, in terms of quality, reliability, etc. Now, 18 years later, the Activa becomes the first BS-VI mass market two-wheeler. It remains to be seen how quickly Honda converts its other scooters and motorcycles into BS-VI norms.
