Benelli Leoncino 250 India Launch Expected Soon: Specs, Details & Price
Italian motorcycle manufacturer Benelli recently launched the all new Leoncino 250 scrambler in Malaysia. The motorcycle is a smaller version of the Leoncino 500 — launched recently in India. The Leoncino 250 retails at RM 14,688 (roughly Rs 2.51 lakh, sans taxes).
Benelli's Leoncino 250 made its first appearance at the EICMA 2017. The motorcycle features a full LED headlamp, a fully digital instrument cluster, a fuel tank that holds 17-litres of petrol, and a single-piece seat.
The Benelli Leoncino features 41mm upside-down telescopic forks at the front, and an adjustable mono-shock at the rear. The motorcycle features a 249cc, 4-valve, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 25.5bhp of power and 21.2Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox.
The Leoncino features 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends, a 110/70-section Pirelli Angel ST tyre at the front, and a 150/60-section Metzeler Sportec M5 tubeless tyre at the rear. Braking duties are handled by a 280mm disc brake at the front, and a 240mm disc brake at the rear. Dual-channel ABS is offered as standard.
The Leoncino 250 is currently available in three colour options - Pearl Brown, Italian Red, and Titanium Grey. While there is no official information about a launch timeline, we expect that the company will launch the motorcycle in India soon.
We expect to see the motorcycle at the Auto Expo 2020, and expect the Leoncino 250 to be priced between Rs 2.0 lakh and Rs 2.30 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Once launched, the Leoncino 250 will compete with the KTM Duke 250, the Royal Enfield 350 series, and Jawa's range of bikes.
Thoughts About The Benelli Leoncino 250
We think the motorcycle looks rather slim (at least that's what we can tell from the pictures) for a 250, although we're sure the motorcycle will look a whole lot different in the flesh. We also think the specs are great for a quarter-liter class. Having said that - Benelli seems to be aiming for the mass-market. First a 500, now a 250. We won't be too surprised if we hear about a 150cc motorcycle form the Italian giants.
