Valentino Rossi Might Start Own Team After He Retires From MotoGP In Two Years
After Valentino Rossi stops racing, he will most probably launch his own team in MotoGP in partnership with Yamaha. Such a team come up only after he stops racing in two years.
MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi and his retirement plans are in the limelight again. Would he retire from racing and form his own MotoGP team? It seems unlikely as of now, as the 'Doctor' hasn't given into any sort of pressure to retire from the premiere sport.
In fact, he stated that he would most likely still be racing until 2020. This is great news for VR46 fans around the globe, as they have received confirmed news from the man himself, though this contract renewal with Yamaha is still pending.
Rossi's retirement plans came up once again after the Tech 3 racing team announced that their 18-year collaboration with Yamaha would end after the 2018 MotoGP season. Tech 3 boss Herve Poncharal announced the split from Yamaha.
The Tech 3 team would be partnering with a new manufacturer for motorcycles in the 2019 MotoGP season. The motorcycles Tech 3 would be racing in 2019 are speculated to be KTMs, however there is no confirmation on the same from any of the parties involved.
After the split was announced, a few privateer teams like Avintia and Angel Nieto expressed interest in taking up the Yamaha partnership. However, Yamaha itself and many well-wishers of Rossi wanted the nine-time world-champion to take up the opportunity and enter the premiere class of the sport with his own team.
Rossi however, calmly refused, stating that he would most probably be racing till then and there would be no question of him forming a MotoGP team with Yamaha. Talking to the media after the opening day of testing in Qatar, he was quoted as saying, "We thought about it, it was a nice idea, but we can't do it."

Just the prospect of having a MotoGP team headed by Valentino Rossi with motorcycles provided by Yamaha is exciting. However, this would remain only an exciting prospect for a couple of years more. Till then though Rossi fans can see him go fast around corners on the Yamaha MotoGP bike like only he can.
