Sachin Tendulkar Writes To Nitin Gadkari; Urges To Act Against Fake Helmet Manufacturers
Sachin Tendulkar has written a letter to transport minister Nitin Gadkari urging him to take strict action against the manufacturers of fake/Non-ISI helmet.
Cricket-icon Sachin Tendulkar has written a letter to the Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari urging him to take strict action against low-quality helmet manufacturers. Sachin Tendulkar cited that due to the high rate of accidents involving two-wheeler riding, it is important that the safety equipment provided for them is of the highest quality.
In his letter to Gadkari, Sachin stated, "I understand that the ministry has been actively working on public safety measures. I would strongly urge your ministry to take strong action against manufacturers of helmets that are putting lives of people at risk by using fake ISI marks on low grade, low-quality helmets that will not protect head injuries in an accident."
The cricketer also mentioned that as a sportsperson himself, he understands the importance of using original high-quality safety equipment. Hence urges the same safety standards to be maintained for helmets as well.
Tendulkar also mentioned that two-wheelers amounted to thirty percent of the overall road accidents in the country in 2016. While also stating that by wearing proper good quality helmets, the chances of survival of bikers would increase by forty-two percent.
In his campaign for safe two-wheeler riding, he called for a reduction in prices of good quality helmets in order to discourage riders to seek cheaper options. Tendulkar also asked for large-scale awareness drives to be launched to educate people about the importance of quality safety gear.
