Okinawa Praise To Be Introduced With Lithium-ion Battery — Launch Details Revealed
India's fastest growing electric two-wheeler manufacturer Okinawa is all set to introduce the Praise scooter with the lithium-ion battery. CarandBike reports that the lithium-ion powered Okinawa Praise electric scooter will be launched in the country in September 2018.
Okinawa has not revealed the exact launch date of the lithium-ion powered Praise e-scooter. The new lithium-ion batteries are detachable and can be swapped. Okinawa showcased the battery during the launch of the Praise last year. The Okinawa Praise will be the first electric scooter in India to be equipped with detachable batteries.
We had recently reported about the Okinawa Praise reaching one of the highest motorable roads, Khardung La in Leh. The scooters used in the trip were also powered by lithium-ion batteries. So, Okinawa has tested the performance of the battery in extreme conditions and it is ready to be launched.
The lithium-ion battery also offers the same power output of 3.34bhp and it is a 72V/45Ah unit similar to the lead-acid battery. But the advantage of the lithium-ion battery is the faster charging time. The 80 percent of the battery can be charged within 45 minutes.
The new lithium-ion battery is also lighter and compact than the lead-acid battery. The battery weighs just 9kg and comes with a life of 2,000 charge cycles. The battery is used to power a 1,000 Watt electric motor that offers a riding range of around 170-200km on a single charge.
The Okinawa Praise electric scooter also gets three riding modes: Economy, Sporty, and Turbo and the scooter can reach a top speed of 35 km/h, 60 km/h, and 75 km/h, respectively. The Praise comes with premium features such as LED headlamp, digital instrument cluster, keyless entry, anti-theft sensor, USB charging socket and 'Find My Scooter' location tracker.
Thoughts On The Okinawa Praise Lithium-ion Battery
The Okinawa Praise is a premium electric scooter loaded with features. Now, with the introduction of the lithium-ion battery, the electric scooter will be an excellent package. The lithium-ion battery will enable quick charging and will be light and compact. The Okinawa Praise powered by a lithium-ion battery might be slightly expensive than the lead-acid battery variant.
