TVS has launched the new 2018 Apache RTR 160 4V in India at a starting price of Rs 81,490 ex-showroom (Delhi). The new Apache RTR 160 4V gets an all-new design, a 4-valve engine and several new features.
The 2018 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V now also becomes the most powerful bike in the 160cc segment. So, what has changed in the new avatar of the motorcycle? Let's find out in this first look review of the 2018 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.
2018 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Design
The newly launched 2018 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V feature an all-new design similar to its elder sibling, the Apache RTR 200 4V. Up front, the motorcycle gets a sharp headlight with LED DRLs. The muscular fuel tank with aggressive shrouds adds to the sporty appeal of the motorcycle.

The side profile of the new Apache RTR 160 4V features side panels finished in silver colour with Apache branding. The chequered flag decal and the new TVS insignia on the fuel tank adds a premium touch to the bike. The sharp and edgy engine belly pan reflects the racing DNA of the Apache RTR 160 4V.
The tail section of the new TVS Apache RTR 160 4V features a LED tail lamp, sporty split grab rail and a short fender. The Apache RTR 160 4V features the same dual-port exhaust muffler seen on the Apache RTR 200 4V. The stepped-up seat design and tapered rear cowl give the bike an aggressive look.
2018 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Engine Details
The 2018 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V draws power from a 159.7cc single cylinder, 4-valve, oil-cooled engine. The fuel injected variant produces 16.56bhp, whereas the carburetted variant churns out 16.28bhp. The engine produces 14.8Nm of torque and comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
2018 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Features
The 2018 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V comes loaded with features such as LED DRL, LED tail light, fully-digital instrument cluster, new single piece handlebar and alloy wheels. The motorcycle also gets ram-air intake placed underneath the tank shrouds.
The 2018 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V is equipped with telescopic forks up front and race-tuned Showa monoshock suspension at the rear. Braking duties are handled by a 270mm petal disc at the front and 200mm disc at the rear. TVS also offers optional Pirelli tyres for track-focused performance.

The 2018 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V now becomes the most powerful motorcycle in the 160cc segment. The new Apache RTR 160 4V rivals the likes of Bajaj Pulsar NS160, Suzuki Gixxer, Honda CB Hornet 160R and Yamaha FZ-S FI V2.0.

The newly launched 2018 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V sports an all-new design language which is sportier and aggressive as compared to the outgoing model. With new features such as digital instrument cluster and fuel injection, the Apache RTR 160 4V becomes one of the best bikes in the 160cc segment.
The only thing missing is the ABS. If the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V had ABS, at least as an option, it could have been a complete package.
