KTM Announces RC 390 ‘R’ Edition — Ready To Race?
KTM RC 390 R Edition announced: KTM has announced the race-spec RC 390 R Edition with several upgrades to enhance the performance of the RC 390.
Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM retails its entry-level super sports bike, the RC 200 and RC 390 in the Indian market. Both the bikes offer best-in-class performance in its respective segment. Now, KTM is readying its new limited edition machine. KTM has announced that it will introduce the RC 390 'R' edition.

Yes, you read it right, KTM RC 390 R will be a souped-up iteration of the regular RC 390 which will feature several upgrades to make it a race track machine. But KTM will only produce 500 units of the RC 390 R in the global market. The KTM RC 390 R is explicitly developed for race track with new mechanical components.
The new KTM RC 390 R will feature a host of updates such as fully adjustable WP suspension, new top yoke and handlebar kit for an aggressive riding position for committed riding and folding clutch and brake levers which does not break in case of a fall. Instead, the levers will flip out.

The engine of new KTM RC 390 R also gets its share of upgrades in the form of shorter intake trumpet which delivers a wider power band suited for committed riding on the race track. In the UK, the KTM RC 390 R is priced at € 8,500 (approximately Rs 7.65 lakh).
If the RC 390 R edition does not quench your thirst for speed, don't worry, KTM has got you covered. Yes, KTM will also offer the hardcore track version of the RC 390 R topped up with a proper race kit which comes with several upgrades apart from the list mentioned above.
The KTM RC 390 R will be offered with the SSP300 race kit with over 230 individual part which can be fitted on the RC 390 R to make it a race machine. The race kit includes race-spec ECU, titanium Akrapovic exhaust, STM slipper clutch, quick shifter, improved engine cooling and wiring harness and much more.
The SSP300 race kit can be directly fitted on a regular RC 390 too which makes the deal even better. But wait, KTM will manufacture only 50 racing kits per year. KTM will not launch the RC 390 R in India as only 500 units are available worldwide. But the company will introduce the 2018 edition of the RC 390 with subtle updates, similar to the Duke 390.
DriveSpark's Thoughts On KTM RC 390 R Edition
The KTM RC 390 is an entry-level fully-faired performance motorcycle with explosive power delivery. Taking the performance to another level is the R edition of the RC 390 which features several upgrades. If this was not enough, KTM has even brought in the SSP300 race kit to make the RC 390 R even more brutal with souped-up race-spec components.
