Kawasaki ZX-10R India Assembly To Start Soon — Expect A Major Price Reduction!
The Kawasaki ZX-10R to start being assembled in India. The company plan to bring the model to India as an SKD kit from Japan and assemble in Chakan, Pune.
Kawasaki is planning to start local assembly of its ZX-10R offering in India. The 1000cc motorcycle will be brought to India as a Semi-Knocked-Down Unit (SKD).
According to Autocar India, this is the second litre-class motorcycle from Kawasaki, after the Ninja 1000 to enter India as an SKD kit. The ZX-10R will be assembled at Kawasaki's Chakan plant in Pune.
The ZX-10R currently has a price tag of Rs 18.8 lakh, ex-showroom (India). Once local assembly of the motorcycle begins, we can expect its price to be under Rs 14 lakh, ex-showroom.
This translates to a price reduction of roughly Rs 5 lakh, making it the most affordable 1000cc motorcycle on sale in India. Kawasaki is currently offering heavy discounts on the last few stock units of the ZX-10R.
Kawasaki is expected to launch the ZX-10R in India sometime in the month of June this year. The motorcycle will be locally assembled in its Chakan plant in Pune using kits imported from Japan.
The Kawasaki ZX-10R draw power from a 998cc, liquid-cooled, inline four-cylinder engine. This engine produces 198bhp with 113.5Nm of torque. Braking on the 200bhp motorcycle is through the 330mm dual-discs setup at the front, along with 220mm petal disc at the rear from Brembo.
The Kawasaki Zx-10R comes with a host of features: Kawasaki-Sports Traction Control System (S-KTRS) with five modes, Intelligent Anti-Lock Braking System (KIBS), Launch Control Mode (KLCM), Engine Braking Control (KEBC), Kawasaki Quick Shifter (KQS) and an Electronic Steering Damper (ESD).
