India's largest two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp is all set for the Auto Expo 2018 with its new premium 200cc motorcycle. Now, Autocar Professional reports that the company is also readying a new 300cc performance motorcycle based on the XF3R concept showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo.
The report states that the new 300cc motorcycle is developed from the XF3R concept model and is in the final phase of development and undergoing validation. Hero might showcase the new 300cc machine at the Auto Expo 2018, but you have to wait at least until the second half of 2018 to get your hands on the motorcycle.
The Hero XFR3 will employ a 300cc single cylinder engine with all the modern technology such as fuel injection, DOHC and liquid cooling. It will be the most powerful Hero motorcycle to be ever produced. Hero has not revealed the performance figures of the bike, but it is expected to come with a 6-speed gearbox.
On the design front, the Hero XF3R will sport a sharp and edgy design with a menacing street fighter look. The exposed trellis frame and other key design elements are expected to be carried over from the concept model. Other features include high swept exhaust, muscular tank, digital instrument cluster and single piece handlebar.
The concept version of the Hero XF3R features premium cycle parts such as upside down front forks, single-sided swingarm and large disc brakes. Expect the production version of the motorcycle to miss out on USD forks and single-sided swingarm to keep the costs in check. Bajaj Auto also did a similar job with the Dominar 400.
As per the sources from the company, Hero MotoCorp had been working on a new 300cc motorcycle derived from the XF3R, and a lot of changes have been made to the motorcycle based on the feedback received from the engineering team. The overall package will be attractive and will shake up the premium motorcycle segment in the country.
Apart from the XF3R motorcycle, Hero MotoCorp will also showcase the Xpulse adventure motorcycle which will replace the Impulse in the Indian market. Hero will also introduce the Xtreme 200S, in a bid to make its mark in the premium motorcycle segment in the country. Now, the XF3R comes as a surprise addition to the list of new Hero bikes.
DriveSpark's Thoughts On Hero XF3R 300cc Motorcycle
Hero MotoCorp has been very keen to enter the premium space in the two-wheeler industry and has been developing several new products. The new 300cc bike based on the XF3R concept is said to be a game-changing product with its modern technology and aggressive styling. If Hero manages to get all the ingredients right, the new 300cc motorcycle might create a new wave in the performance biking segment in the country.
Once launched in India, the Hero XF3R 300cc motorcycle will face stiff competition from the likes of KTM Duke 250, KTM Duke 390, Bajaj Dominar 400, Benelli TNT 300 and the upcoming BMW G 310 R. Expect the motorcycle to be priced in the range of Rs 1.5 lakh ex-showroom.
