Ducati India is set to launch the updated version of its touring and adventure flagship with a larger engine, more features and lots of technological additions. The 2018 Ducati Multistrada 1260 and Multistrada 1260 S will be launched in India on June 19, 2018.

The highlight of the new motorcycle is the 1,262cc Testastretta DVT motor that has been taken straight from the Ducati XDiavel. The longer stroke enables the engine to produce more usable torque. It produces a maximum power output of 158bhp and a peak torque output of 129.5Nm, 8bhp and 1.5Nm more than the current Ducati Multistrada 1200 series.

One could easily lose count of the number of electronic and technological features on this motorcycle. Riding aids include Ducati Traction Control, cornering ABS, Ducati Wheelie Control, Ducati Cruise Control, Vehicle Hold Control, etc.

The Multistrada 1260 S comes with additional features like a quickshifter, sportier suspension, etc. Electronically controlled Skyhook suspension system, Ducati Multimedia System, cornering lights, etc, come as standard with both variants.

The Ducati Multistrada 1260 is already on sale in several International markets in four variants - Multistrada 1260, Multistrada 1260 S, Multistrada S D-Air and Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak.

The Multistrada S D-Air allows for seamless integration between the motorcycle and Dainese D-Air airbag riding jacket. The motorcycle activates the Dainese airbag jacket in under 45 milliseconds of detecting a crash. The airbag jacket is not available in India officially yet, and this might be the reason for Ducati to keep this model away from our market.

The Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak variant is essentially a sportier variant of the 1260 S. It comes equipped with forged aluminium wheels, Ohlins suspension system, carbon fibre exhaust system, carbon fibre screen, race-themed paint-job, etc.

The new variants of the Multistrada will be manufactured in Thailand and brought into India as a CBU (completely-built unit) just like the current generation is. Prices are expected to start at around Rs 16 lakh for the Multistrada 1260 and around Rs 19 lakh for the Multistrada 1260 S.

The adventure touring motorcycles will compete with the likes of the Triumph Tiger 1200, and the BMW R 1200 GS.

Thoughts On The Multistrada 1260 and 1260 S being launched In India
The Ducati Multistrada 1260 was unveiled at the Ducati World Premiere in Italy late last year. It was put on sale in International markets a short while after, and after a few months, it is now being launched in India.

The Multistrada is known as one of the best dual-sport adventure-touring motorcycles in the world. It is a perfect blend of sportiness and adventure, and this is what is needed in a large flagship adventure tourer.
