Bike Sales Report For July 2018: The month of July saw a number of new launches and facelifts in the Indian two-wheeler market. Two-wheeler manufacturers such as Suzuki and Honda added new vehicles to their portfolio with multiple launches and facelift.
The Indian two-wheeler market sustained its double-digit growth, due to these new launches, as well as strong rural sales. Companies like Bajaj, Suzuki and TVS Motors continued to grow substantially. While others such as Royal Enfield and Honda recorded a slow, but steady growth in sales.
Here are the sales figures of different brands from the Indian two-wheeler market

Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) recorded decent sales in the month of July 2018. The company managed to sell a total of 548,577 units in the previous month, compared to 544,529 units in July 2017. The company recorded a marginal growth of just 0.74 per cent sales.
Domestically, HMSI sold a total of 508,415 units in July 2018, compared to 511,960 units during the same month last year. This translates to a marginal drop in sales by 0.69 per cent. However, export sales recorded a growth of 23.31 per cent from 32,569 units in July 2017 to 40,162 units in July 2018.
Scooters recorded a marginal growth in sales. The company recorded a small growth of 0.48 per cent from 343,885 units last year to 345,550 units in July 2018. However, motorcycles sales dropped by 3.1 per cent in July 2018 from 168,075 units last year to 162,865 units in July 2018.
Bajaj Auto recorded a total sales growth of 30 per cent in July 2018. The company managed to sell 400,343 units in July 2018, compared to 307,727 units during the same month last year.
Bajaj two-wheeler segment also recorded a sales growth of 25 per cent. The two-wheeler business sold 332,680 units in the previous month, compared to 265,182 unit in July 2017.
Domestic sales of Bajaj two-wheelers alone improved by 22 per cent in July 2018. The company recorded a sales of 201,433 units, compared to 164,915 units during the same month last year.
During the same time, Bajaj two-wheeler export sales also grew by 31 per cent to 131,247 units from 100,267 units in July 2017.
Eicher Motors-owned Royal Enfield managed to record a sales growth of 7 per cent in July 2018. The company is one of the fastest growing motorcycle brands in the country. Royal Enfield has recorded a consistent growth in motorcycle sales month-on-month.
The company sold a total of 69,063 units in July 2018, compared to 64,459 units during the same time last year. Domestic sales stood at 67,001 units, compared to 63,147 units in July 2017. This translates to 6 per cent increase in sales.
Exports, on the other hand, witnessed a massive growth of 58 per cent. The company recorded export sales of 2,062 units in July 2018, compared to 1,302 units in July last year.
Suzuki Two-wheelers India, recorded their highest monthly sales in July 2018, with 53,321 units. This compared to 34,038 units in July 2017, translates to a sales growth of 56.6 per cent.
The sales of Suzuki two-wheelers were mainly due to their refreshed models and new launches. The company refreshed the Gixxer SP motorcycles, while also launching their new maxi-scooter offering, the Burgman Street.
Suzuki India is also gearing up for the launch of its new adventure motorcycle, the V-Strom 650, later this year.
TVS Motors recorded a total growth of 18 per cent in July 2018, selling 321,179 units. During the same month last year, the company recorded sales of 271,171 units.
The two-wheeler segment of TVS Motors recorded sales of 307,856 units in the previous month. This is a 17 per cent growth against 263,336 units of sales in July 2017.
Domestic sales recorded a growth of 13 per cent, while company export growth was recorded to be 42 per cent. Domestically, the company sold 247,382 units in July this year against 219,396 units last year.
Thoughts On The Two-Wheeler Sales For July 2018
The two-wheeler market in India is steadily on the rise. Companies are either constantly introducing new vehicles or refreshing the current models in their lineup. The two-wheeler segment in the Indian market is experiencing a steady month-on-month growth, due to stiff competition offered by different brands.
