Aprilia Tuono 150 First Look Review - Good Looks, Great Performance And Sporty Handling
Aprilia Tuono 150 First Look Review. The Aprilia Tuono 150 is a naked motorcycle inspired by the 1100cc Tuono V4. The Aprilia Tuono 150 will be a tough motorcycle to keep up with, in the 150cc segment
Aprilia Tuono 150 First Look Review: Aprilia took the Indian motorcycle market by surprise when it revealed the RS 150 and the Tuono 150 at the Indian Auto Expo 2018. The Aprilia Tuono 150 is a naked motorcycle inspired by the venerable 1100cc Tuono V4. The Aprilia Tuono 150 will be a tough motorcycle to keep up with, in the 150cc naked motorcycle segment in India.
Aprilia Tuono 150 Design
The Aprilia Tuono 150 is an extremely good looking motorcycle with its bikini fairing sporting sharp, aggressive design lines. The motorcycle on display at the Auto Expo featured Aprilia's signature Red, Black and Silver colour scheme and the Tuono 150 showcased many premium features.
The front end is characterised by Aprilia's signature triple-headlamp unit. From the sides though, the motorcycle aggressive beyond measure, with the frame being visible and the bikini fairing along with the exhaust pipe making it a treat to look at.
An underbelly exhaust discharges gases and one can expect it to sound slightly gruntier than the Aprilia Tuono 125 on sale in Europe.
A neatly designed rear end with an LED tail-lamp makes sure the motorcycle looks good on that end as well.

Aprilia Tuono 150 Engine And Performance
The Aprilia Tuono 150 is powered by a liquid-cooled, single-cylinder 150cc, fuel-injected engine with a maximum power output of 17bhp and a peak torque output of 14Nm. A 6-speed sequential gearbox drives the rear wheel and a quick-shifter will be available as an option. Acceleration and top speed figures are expected to be better than all motorcycles in the segment.
Aprilia Tuono 150 Suspension
Suspension duties on the Aprilia Tuono 150 are carried out by premium upside down forks up front, and adjustable monoshocks at the rear. While this promises great ride quality and handling, we are not sure if the same suspension would make it to the production variant given the additional cost for such a setup.
Aprilia Tuono 150 Brakes
Braking on the Aprilia Tuono 150 too is premium, with a 300mm disc up front and a 218mm disc at the rear. ABS being provided as standard, further helps in increasing braking effectiveness, and thereby, safety.
Aprilia Tuono 150 Competition
The Aprilia Tuono 150 will directly compete with the Yamaha FZ-S 2.0, the Suzuki Gixxer and the Honda CB Hornet. However, given its price point and it's calibre, it can also compete with the TVS Apache 200 4V and the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200.
DriveSpark Thinks!
While Aprilia has showcased the Tuono to gauge reactions and check feasibility, there is no doubt that the motorcycle would make it into the Indian market, given our love for low capacity, sporty motorcycles.
Aprilia has been pretty successful in the Indian market with the SR 150 and with motorcycles like the Tuono 150 lined up, the Italian brand certainly seems to be staring in the face of more success. If you are looking for a comfortable ride with sporty handling, the Tuono 150 is the motorcycle to go for, in the 150cc segment.
