Indian two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto is all set to update its products in 2018 with new colour options and cosmetic changes.
Among them, the prominent model to receive the significant update is the 2018 Avenger series. Autocar India reports that Bajaj will revamp the Avenger brand with new design and features to tackle its modern rivals.
Currently, the Bajaj Avenger is offered in two engine options: 150cc and 220cc and three variants - Street 150 and 220 and Cruise 220. The report states that the 2018 iteration of the Avenger series will come with new design, features and specifications.
The only rival for Bajaj Avenger in India is the recently launched Suzuki Intruder 150. But its Japanese rival is priced much higher than the Avenger 150 and 220 and retails at a price tag of Rs 98,340 ex-showroom (Delhi). Now, the updated 2018 Avenger will be even more value for money product.
The Avenger 220 is the best-selling Avenger in the Indian market, and it is expected to get significant updates in its 2018 avatar. The 2018 Avenger 220 is likely to feature LED DRLs, digital instrument cluster, redesigned seat, flush-fitting fuel tank cap and new grab rails.
In its 2018 Iteration, Bajaj will also revamp the Avenger logo reflecting the updates of the cruiser motorcycle. The Avenger 220 is likely to get single-channel ABS, and even the Avenger 150 might get the safety feature. The Avenger 150 will also be updated but not as much as 220. This will allow Bajaj to price the Avenger 150 more aggressively.
Since its launch in India, the overall design of the Bajaj Avenger has remained the same and desperately needs an update. But that said, the 2018 Avenger will retain its classic cruiser styling unlike the radical design opted by Suzuki for the Intruder 150.
The 2018 Avenger will be launched in India in the first half of January 2018 along with the updated Dominar 400 featuring new colour options. Currently, the Avenger 150 and 220 carries a price tag of Rs 81,459 and Rs 89,690 ex-showroom (Delhi) respectively. The new Avenger might be slightly expensive, but it will still undercut the Suzuki Intruder 150.
Bajaj is known for its value for money products in India, and the new 2018 Avenger series will be no different from that. The new Avenger series will come with a slew of changes to the design and mechanical components. The modern avatar of the Avenger will be a huge leap from the current-gen model and will rival the Suzuki Intruder 150.
