Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha has removed its popular YZF-R3 motorcycle from its Indian website. The fully-faired motorcycle was axed because of the ban on the BS-III vehicles in the country.

Now, GaadiWaadi reports that Yamaha has confirmed that it will bring back the YZF-R3 to the Indian market by June 2017. The company will convert the old BS-III engine to the new BS-IV emission norms and will relaunch the motorcycle.

Apart from the BS-IV engine, the 2017 YZF-R3 is expected to get few other updates too. Such as the new body graphics, Auto Headlamp On (AHO) and a new paint scheme.

The BS-IV version of the YZF-R3 is likely to be powered by the existing 321cc liquid cooled, inline twin-cylinder engine churning out 41.4bhp and 30Nm peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

Yamaha might also offer the updated YZF-R3 with ABS as an option at least. It is a much need addition to the motorcycle as its competitors such as KTM RC390 comes with dual-channel ABS.

Yamaha India has also removed the older iteration of the FZ from its website. The 2017 YZF-R3 will not feature any major update. As a result, the pricing is expected to hover around Rs 3.30 lakh Ex-showroom (Delhi).
