Mansoor shared this shocking incident with Rushlane; he was riding a Honda CBR 250R along with his friend on a Yamaha YZF-R3. Both of them stopped at an IOCL petrol pump in Bagepalli. As Mansoor had enough fuel on his motorcycle, so he decided not to top up.

But the Yamaha R3 rider refueled and both the riders continued their journey Less than a kilometre from the petrol pump, Mansoor noticed white smoke coming out of his friend's motorcycle. Soon the R3 stopped and the engine shut down.

They tried to start the motorcycle and Mansoor opened the fuel tank to make sure if it was petrol or something else was filled in the tank. He couldn't smell petrol and got suspicious and decided to head back to the petrol pump. In a few 100 metres, they found another rider facing the same issue with his Bajaj Pulsar.

They managed to reach the petrol pump and complained about the issue. By now Mansoor was clear that his friend's R3 was filled with muddy water instead of petrol. The duo tried to contact the manager of the fuel station but he was not reachable, they also called the cops but it was too of no use as they told them to come to the police station.

After all this, the petrol pump staff arranged a mechanic to drain and clean the tank of the Yamaha R3. Somehow, they managed to start the motorcycle by draining the muddy water and filled petrol from the nearest petrol pump.
This incident makes us think, as a customer, how we can know what exactly a petrol pump is filling in our vehicles. And who is responsible for all these things. Fuel is delivered to a petrol pump after all the quality check, then how did this incident happen?

After all the drama, IOCL (Indian Oil Corporation Limited) reached out to Mansoor and his friend and they assured that the company would pay the service charge incurred to fix the motorcycle. But it is still not clear whether any legal action will be taken against the petrol pump.

DriveSpark Thinks!
As a customer, we have to be careful when filling fuel at an unknown place. Make sure it is petrol/diesel before filling your vehicle. And if at all you face such incident, you should contact the owner of the petrol pump and inform the local. But still, we are shocked that the petrol pump filled the mixture of petrol and muddy water. But thankfully the damage was not that big and the duo managed to fix the Yamaha R3.
