2017 Yamaha YZF R25 Will Get Slipper Clutch And USD Forks

The main rival for the Yamaha YZF R25 in the international market is the Honda CBR250RR.

The YZF R25 is the next 'R' series motorcycle from Yamaha that will receive major updates in 2017. The quarter-litre offering from the world-renowned manufacturer will gain premium features including upside side down (USD) front forks and slipper clutch. The addition of these features was revealed by Mr Minoru Morimoto, President, Yamaha Indonesia in an interview to Iwanbanaran.

The company introduced the 250cc motorcycle in the international markets in 2014 and this is the first time the motorcycle is going to get major updates. However, the 2017 model will not be getting Ride-by-Wire throttle system.

We can expect several other features like LED headlamps and new colour schemes on the YZF R25. The new additions, that are, the USD forks will help to improve the handling of the motorcycle while the slipper clutch will give the rider more confidence for hard downshifting without the rear-wheel lockup.

The main rival for the YZF R25 in the international market is the Honda CBR250RR. The CBR250RR is the most powerful quarter-litre motorcycle. The 249.7cc twin-cylinder Honda engine cranks out 38.2bhp of power and 23.3Nm of torque.

On the other hand, Yamaha YZF R25 produces 35.5bhp of power at 12,000rpm and 22.1Nm of torque at 10,000rpm from its 249cc twin-cylinder mill. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The ongoing model weighs 166kg and is employed with telescopic forks up front and a mono-shock at the rear.

When it comes to dimensions, the YZF R25 measures 2,090mm in length, 720mm in width, 1,135mm in height and has a seat height of 780mm. As of now, it is unclear that whether Yamaha will launch the 2017 YZF R25 in India. But motorcycle enthusiasts here are waiting for the new pocket rocket made by the Japanese firm, the YZF R15 V3.0.
