Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 Spotted In India; Launch Imminent?
The new Yamaha YZF-R15 has been spotted in India and it is expected to be launched very soon.
Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Yamaha is all set to launch the new YZF-R15 V3.0 in India. Ahead of that the new avatar of the motorcycle was spotted undisguised in the country.
Yamaha India has already commenced testing the third-gen R15 on the Indian roads, but the company was tight-lipped about the introduction of the motorcycle in India.
Now, the new Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 has been spotted without any camouflage which indicates that the launch is nearing. The company has already introduced the new R15 in several global markets. But the disappointing part is that the India-spec model misses out on few features to keep the price in check.
The latest images reveal that the India-spec R15 V3.0 misses out on the upside-down front forks. Instead, the motorcycle gets conventional telescopic forks similar to the current model. The motorcycle also does not feature ABS, but we expect Yamaha to offer the safety feature at least as an option.

Apart from that, the India-spec model features the same front fender of the V2.0 as opposed to the new sportier one seen on the global-spec model. The motorcycle is shod with MRF tyres and also gets the same footpegs as compared to the aluminium unit of the international model. The motorcycle is likely to miss out slipper clutch as well.
On the design from, the new R15 V3.0 looks aggressive thanks to the new front profile with sleek and sharp LED dual-headlamps and the air duct between the headlamps give the motorcycle a sporty look. The fairing has been redesigned and the tail section has been tweaked.
The new R15 V3.0 draws power from an all-new 155.1cc liquid-cooled, single cylinder engine producing 19.04bhp and 14.7Nm of torque. The engine is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine specs remain the same as the global-spec model.
DriveSpark Thinks!
Yamaha is gearing up for the launch of the new YZF-R15 V3.0 in India. But the India-spec model is a downgraded version of the international model. It is mainly done to keep the costs low and replace the existing V2.0 with the V3.0.
With the premium cycle parts such as USD forks and slipper clutch, the price of the motorcycle will be too high for the 150cc segment. The new R15 is likely to carry a price tag of around Rs 1.2 lakh and will rival the likes of Suzuki Gixxer SF.
