TVS Sold 4,500 Units Of The BMW G 310 R So Far — Report
Indian two-wheeler manufacturer has sold 4,500 units of BMW G 310 R motorcycle to the German firm, BMW Motorrad. The motorcycle is manufacture in TVS' Hosur plant.
Indian two-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor Company produces the smallest BMW Motorrad motorcycle, the G 310 R in the country.
According to a report from ET Auto, TVS has sold 4,500 units of the BMW G 310 R to BMW Motorrad in the financial year 2016-17. The motorcycle is expected to launch in India later this year.
The BMW G 310 R is the smallest offering from the German motorcycle manufacturer. The G 310 R is developed in Munich, aimed at developing markets such as India, Brazil and ASEAN region.
The BMW G 310 R is the first product developed as part of the partnership signed between TVS and BMW. The deal was signed in 2013 for smaller displacement motorcycles.
The BMW G 310 R is powered by a 313cc single cylinder, liquid cooled engine churning out 33.6bhp and 28Nm of peak torque. The engine is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox, and the claimed top speed is 143km/h.
The same motor and platform will be used for the BMW G 310 GS, the Adventure Tourer avatar of the G 310 R. The motorcycle is likely to hit the roads in 2018. The same engine is mounted in the upcoming TVS Apache RR 310S.
