TVS Motor Company has commenced exporting the India-made BMW G 310 R naked streetfighter motorcycle to several foreign markets.

The BMW G 310 R motorcycle is manufactured at TVS Motor Company's Hosur manufacturing facility In India. The motorcycle has been designed by German two-wheeler maker BMW Motorrad.

The India launch of the BMW G 310 R has been delayed due to various reasons. The motorcycle is expected to be launched in the country later this year by second half of 2017.

Although, BMW Motorrad will begin its India operations from April 2017. The company will launch its high-end motorcycles in the Indian market except for the G310R and G310GS.

The main reason behind the delayed launch is the lack of infrastructure. BMW Motorrad wants to set up more showrooms before entering the mass market in the country. And this may take a few months to get the things right.

BMW Motorrad will launch its bigger capacity motorcycles such as the K1600, R1200 and S1000 in India. The motorcycles will compete with the premium players such as Ducati, Kawasaki, Triumph and several others.

The BMW G 310 R draws power from a 313cc single cylinder engine churning out 33.6bhp of power and 28Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a claimed to speed of 143km/h.

The motorcycle is equipped with the premium features such as upside down front forks, ABS and fully digital instrument console. When launched in India, the BMW G 310 R will go head on against the likes of KTM Duke 390, Mahindra Mojo and Bajaj Dominar 400.
