Helmetless Hooliganism In This City Will Send Your Bike To Jail
Mysore Police are implementing a new rule to stop the violation of helmet rule. The two-wheeler will be detained if the rider or pillion is not wearing a helmet.
Mysore cops are enforcing new traffic norms to discipline motorists. And taking a step ahead, the Police have decided to detain the two-wheeler if the rider is found violating the helmet rule.

Under the new rule by Mysore cops, a rider cannot ride the two-wheeler until he or she wears the helmet. Till now the rider would get away by paying the penalty on the spot.

Although the new order is valid from February 26, it will be strictly implemented from today. On an average 300 riders including pillion are fined for violating the helmet rule.

Police Commissioner AS Rao said, "Though the law requires that both the rider and pillion rider should wear helmets, it is found that rules are violated on the city roads daily. Besides imposing fine, we will detain the vehicle till the rider follows the rule."

The Commissioner of Police has the power to issue an order to hold the vehicle till the owner of the two-wheeler follows the rule. ACP (traffic), K N Madaiah said, "We will merely detain the vehicles and not seize them."

The city police chief has also asked to implement the Supreme Court order on vehicle insurance. If a vehicle is not covered under the insurance, such vehicles will be detained.

The suspension of driving licence will be extended to other traffic offences such as driving while using the cell phone, traffic signal jumping and transporting people in goods vehicles.
