Honda rider Marc Marquez won the German Grand Prix and leads the championship points table. The Spaniard took his second victory of the season.
Marquez had to work hard for his victory, as local hero Jonas Folger finished in an impressive second place. Marquez started the race from pole position and took the race lead. But soon Folger was in front.

But the Tech 3 Yamaha rider couldn't maintain the lead as he out-braked himself and allowed Marquez to retake the lead. Ultimately, Folger had to settle for the second place, but the German rider showed impressive pace.
Honda rider Dani Pedrosa finished in the final podium position; he was outpaced by Folger as he was hunting down Marquez. Yamaha riders Maverick Vinales and Valentino Rossi finished in fourth and fifth respectively.

Ducati rider Jorge Lorenzo gambled with soft compound tyres and finished outside the point scoring place in 11th position. His teammate Andrea Dovizioso managed to finish in the eighth place.
