The 2017 Kawasaki Z650 launched in India. The new Z650 replaces the ER-6n streetfighter and costs Rs 25,000 more than its predecessor.
India Kawasaki Motor has launched its middleweight streetfighter Z650 in India and replaces the ER-6n. The new Kawasaki Z650 is priced at Rs 5.19 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi).
The new Z650 costs Rs 25,000 more than the model it replaces. The 2017 Kawasaki Z650 receives a new design language, but also offers better power delivery, new chassis and lighter weight as well. The Kawasaki Z650 was launched alongside the Ninja 300 and the Ninja 650 in the country.
The terminology is one of the significant changes for the new Kawasaki Z650, drawing the naked in-line with the company's Z series of naked bikes.
The Kawasaki Sugomi inspires the design of the mid-weight naked Kawasaki Z650. The latest mid-capacity bike has a freshly created tubular trellis frame and lightweight swingarm each contributing to an ungraded and impressive handling package.
As for the powertrain, the 2017 Kawasaki Z650 uses the same 649cc parallel twin, water-cooled engine that is now BSIV complaint. The engine has been detuned to produce 67bhp, about 2bhp lower than the previous version, and the torque peaks at 65.7Nm.
The mill is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and is now equipped with a slipper clutch as well. The company says the engine has been tweaked to offer better low-mid range performance.
Telescopic forks perform suspension duties up front, and a new horizontal back-links rear suspension replaces the right offset unit. The braking comes from Nissin sourced units at the front and back while ABS is now offered as standard.
The new Z650 will rival with the likes of Benelli TNT 600i ABS, Honda CBR650F among others.
