India Kawasaki Motor has launched the middleweight 2017 Ninja 650 in India with a host of updates for better performance and handling. The new Ninja 650 is priced at Rs 5.69 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi).

The new Ninja 650 with a new cowling that takes styling cues from the Ninja ZX 10R motorcycle, but with comfortable ergonomics so riders can enjoy this ride for more kilometres.

The Ninja 650 gets a sharp new profile with the wide twin headlamps and a shortened tail section. The motorcycle also gets the new KRT livery with black and neon green, while there are split seats in place for better comfort.

The new 2017 Kawasaki Ninja 650 further gains from a new upright riding position for more comfortable yet sporty riding, while the seat height has decreased to 790mm for a lower centre of gravity and better foot placement, grips are positioned slightly forward, and the windscreen is now adjustable.

The middleweight 2017 Kawasaki Ninja 650 features a new stronger, lighter frame, and new rear suspension with redesigned gull-arm swingarm. Additionally, the new Ninja 650 features new sportbike cowling, headlight and design elements.

The 2017 Kawasaki Ninja 650 is powered by the 649cc parallel twin engine producing 67bhp and 65.7Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox, and the new bike gets a slipper clutch.

Suspension duties are taken care by conventional forks and mono shock setup at the rear. With the focus on a strong low-mid range, Kawasaki claims the Ninja 650 offers nimble handling and rider-friendly manoeuvrability.

The Ninja 650 features racing-inspired fairing and bodywork style, new sporty front cowl, new X-pattern LED taillight, and a new Trellis frame and centrally positioned rear shock.

Braking duties come from the new Nissin callipers for improved braking with along with ABS offered standard, while a new digital display instrument console in place with a gearshift indicator.

The Kawasaki Ninja 650 will compete with Honda CBR650F and Hyosung GT650. Kawasaki India will also offer a range of optional accessories for the new Ninja 650 such the touring windscreen, luggage options and a full system Akrapovic exhaust.
