2017 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 launched In India. The new Kawasaki Ninja 1000 is priced at Rs 9.98 lakh ex-showroom (India) and is positioned as a sports tourer.
The Kawasaki Ninja 1000 is powered by a1043cc in-line, four-cylinder engine producing 140bhp @ 10,000rpm and 111Nm of torque @ 7,300rpm which is sent to the rear wheel by a 6-speed gearbox.
Revised ECU settings contribute to even smoother power delivery from the engine and ensure that the Ninja 1000 meets BS-IV emission norms. The engine also features a secondary balancer on the crankshaft to cut down on excessive vibrations.
The Ninja 1000 features a 6-axis Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) which includes riding aids such as traction control, cornering management system, wheelie control and ABS. The new litre-class Ninja also features three different riding modes.
Kawasaki has also revised the settings for the shock absorbers and linkage ratio which helps the Ninja offer improved ride and firmer cushioning over rougher roads. The new linkage also results in a 5mm drop in seat height which now sits 815mm above the ground.
Regarding design, the new Ninja 1000 sports sharper dual LED headlamps with each unit featuring low and high beams, as well as a LED position lamp. The headlamps are significantly brighter than before and also draw approximately 50 percent less power.
The two-piece fairings on the new Ninja 1000 are 28mm wider than before to offer better wind protection to the rider's legs. Also new is the adjustable double bubble windscreen which has three positions and is 15mm taller at the centre. The windscreen can be adjusted by depressing the release button below the all-new instrument panel.
The new Instrument panel features a large analogue tachometer along with a multi-function LCD screen with a gear position indicator.
The new Kawasaki Ninja 1000 will rival the likes of the Suzuki GSX-S1000F and the BMW R1200RS in India.
