India Set To Overtake US In 2017; Set To Be The Largest Ready To Race Market
KTM has been one of the fastest growing two-wheeler brands in the country.
India is set to become the largest market for the Austrian two-wheeler manufacturer KTM in 2017. KTM is part owned by Bajaj Auto, which is one of the most popular two-wheeler makers in many countries.

In 2016, India became the second largest two-wheeler market for KTM at 36,000 units, while in the United States, the company managed to sell 1,000 units more. Now, the manufacturer has refreshed its product portfolio in India.

On Thursday, KTM launched its new refreshed lineup of Dukes in the country. The 200 Duke, which is the entry-level motorcycle from the marque comes with a price tag of Rs 1.43 lakh. The elder siblings; 250 Duke and 390 Duke are priced at around Rs 1.73 lakh and Rs 2.25 lakh respectively.

The sales of KTM is expected to pass 50,000 units this year. Amit Nandi, President - Pro Biking, Bajaj Auto said that India was a very close number 2 market for KTM in 2016. The manufacturer's main aim is to be number 1 in the country in globals sales.

Nandi said, "India's role is set to grow for KTM. With the revamping of the entire line-up and the addition of Duke 250, we are eyeing a strong double-digit growth this year too."

KTM has been one of the fastest growing two-wheeler brands in the country. It has compounded an annual growth rate of 48% in past five years and is expected to increase the growth this year too.
