Honda Patents New Motorcycle With Underseat Exhaust And A V4 Engine
Honda Motorcycles filed a patent for a new motorcycle with a V4 engine and an underseat exhaust system.
Underseat exhaust systems on motorcycles was a 'cool' thing which started in the 70s. Well it did look cool, but did quite the opposite to the undersides of those riding on the pillion seat.
The trendy underseat exhausts slowly started fading away in the last decade with just a few motorcycles offering it. Now though, it looks like Honda wants it to be trending again.

Honda has filed a patent for a motorcycle design and the patent drawings are out for us to see. This motorcycle gives biking enthusiasts yet another reason to rejoice - a V4 engine configuration. This means, the motorcycle will not just look good with the underseat exhaust, but will also sound good with the throaty V4 revving away to glory.

This patent might have a connection to the special motorcycle that Honda is supposedly building to celebrate its 70th birth anniversary. However there is no hard evidence to prove the existence of this supposed motorcycle and hence is a speculation at best.

The patent filed shows a dual exhaust system, with the rear bank of the V4 exhausting its gases through the underseat exhaust and the forward bank, through a traditional side-slung exhaust system. This is not just more efficient in the way it works, but should produce a glorious soundtrack.

Details of the motorcycle are sparse at the moment, but we will bring the information to you as we get it. Watch this space for more.
