Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) entered a segment where not many brands would like to venture - the utility scooter segment - with the launch of the Cliq scooter. The Honda Cliq is unconventional in its design, and the approach is more practical rather than a stylish scooter.
Has Honda found success with the Cliq? Well, that seems to be the case. In a recent interview with carandbike.com, Tetsuya Komine, Deputy Director, Sales and Marketing, HMSI said that they sold more than 10,000 Cliq scooters within four months of its launch.
So what does the Honda Cliq have to offer to be popular among buyers in India? Let us look at some of the best and practical use of the unique looking Honda Cliq.
Designed To Be Practical
The Honda Cliq might not be the best-looking scooter in the Indian market, but it was designed to be practical. The Honda Cliq features wider footboard, for a more comfortable ride and carry luggage as well. As an optional accessory, one can equip the Cliq with additional load carrier to carry luggage.
The Honda Cliq comes with long and wider seat so you can sit comfortably as well as carry any extra luggage. The scooter also comes with optional mobile charging socket and under seat storage of 14-litre which is quite sufficient to carry few things and a small half face helmet.
The Honda Cliq comes shod with block pattern tubless tyres, which offer better grip, especially if you're riding on sandy patches and if you're riding off the tarmac.
Frugal Honda Engine
Honda has equipped the Cliq with the engine which does its duty on the Activa 4G and the Honda Dio as well. So, in terms of power, Honda is offering the same performance of the Activa or the Dio. The company has not compromised on the power output of the Cliq.
The same 109cc single-cylinder, four-stroke engine which produces 8bhp and 8.94Nm of torque mated to a CVT automatic gearbox powers the Honda Cliq.
The Cliq is one of the least expensive scooters from Honda in India. Honda offers the Cliq in two variants: Standard and Graphics. While the standard variant of the Honda Cliq is priced at Rs 42,384, the variant with graphics is priced at Rs 42,880. All prices are ex-showroom (Delhi).
The Honda Cliq is a practical and arguably one of the best utility scooters in India. Along with Honda's frugal 109cc engine, the Cliq is a combination of performance and utility.
