Hero MotoCorp To Focus On Premium Scooters And Motorcycles
India's largest two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp is planning to launch new products in the premium segment. Read more.
India's largest two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp has axed few models and variants to revamp its product portfolio.
The company is focussing on premium motorcycles and scooters. Hero MotoCorp has discontinued the model's such Hunk, Ignitor and HF Dawn.
As part of the strategic approach, Hero MotoCorp has already introduced new variants of the existing models. The newly introduced variants are - Glamour, Maestro Edge, Duet and Pleasure.
A senior official from the company said, "We are currently in the process of realigning and consolidating our product portfolio with an enhanced focus on scooters and the premium segment."
Hero MotoCorp has over 50 percent share in the 100cc and 150cc segment in the country. Now, the company is planning to launch six new products current fiscal.
The company official added, "Two will be introduced in the market leading up to the festive season in September. Following these, we will launch an all-new 200cc motorcycle around the Auto Expo 2018."
The company is very confident that it will maintain its growth in the coming months. In the period of 2016-17, the company sold 66,63,903 units, highest ever sales figures in a financial year.
Hero MotoCorp is facing fierce competition in the domestic market from its former partner, Honda. In 2013, the company also announced that it would expand its reach to 50 markets by 2020 and to set up 20 production plants across the globe.
